7 Near-Perfect Sega Genesis Games Nobody Remembers

Despite being a classic, MUSHA doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It’s fundamentally a really enjoyable game, which makes sense considering it’s a fast-paced shooting game. Players dodge enemies sent by a rogue supercomputer – the same one that harmed Terri’s friends. The game truly shines when you finally reach the supercomputer itself.

Pulseman Is a Great Sega Genesis Platformer

Pulseman is a 21st-century platforming game where a cyborg named Pulseman faces a difficult mission: defeat his own father, now the villainous Doc Waruyama. Doc Waruyama was once the brilliant computer engineer, Doc Yoshiyama, but fell under the control of a powerful AI he himself created, and now commands a legion of creations.

Pulseman is a sci-fi platformer that adds a unique twist to the classic formula. The main character is all about electricity, using it for attacks and even to move at incredible speeds. It’s a really enjoyable and imaginative game that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

Decap Attack Is the Perfect Platformer for Horror Fans

Decap Attack is a spooky platformer game where Dr. Frank N. Stein, a somewhat unhinged scientist, is building monsters to fight demons invading from another world. One particularly troublesome demon, Max D. Cap, is causing Dr. Stein a lot of problems. To stop him, the doctor sends Chuck D. Head – a mummy who, ironically, doesn’t have a head – into action.

I’m a big fan of Decap Attack, and even though the horror stuff feels more like window dressing, it’s still one of my favorite games! The gameplay is just so much fun, especially when you’re controlling Chuck D. Head. I really loved collecting that skull – it was super useful for both blocking attacks and fighting back as the mummy!

Rocket Knight Adventures Is Filled With Surprises

Rocket Knight Adventures is a fast-paced action game that combines platforming and shooting. When the kingdom of Zephyrus is invaded by pigs seeking revenge for a past wrong, they form the Devotindos Empire and begin building a powerful spaceship capable of destroying planets. The hero, Sparkster, must embark on a quest to stop them.

Unlike games like Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, Rocket Knight Adventures constantly mixes things up. Some stages are classic platforming challenges that demand careful timing and accurate jumps, while others feel more like fast-paced shooting levels. This blend of styles creates a lively and engaging platforming experience.

Beyond Oasis Is Like Zelda for Sega Fans

Beyond Oasis, also known as The Story of Thor, is an action-adventure game set in the land of Oasis, which holds many hidden treasures. The main character, Prince Ali, searches for these treasures, hoping to free the spirits trapped inside. He also faces enemies who want to use the treasures for their own purposes.

Beyond Oasis is often seen as Sega’s take on The Legend of Zelda, and that comparison is clear from the start. Like the original Zelda games, it’s played from a top-down view and puts you in control of Prince Ali, who has access to a variety of powerful weapons. Ristar Is the Star of Sega’s Most Underrated Gem

Ristar is a platforming game where the story changes slightly depending on where you play it. However, the core plot is always the same: the villainous space pirate Kaiser Greedy is attempting to control the leaders of all the planets in the galaxy using mind control. Players take on the role of Ristar, who travels to each planet to defeat Greedy’s forces and free the leaders.

In the American release of the game, the hero is also on a mission to save his father, who has been captured by the villain’s henchmen. No matter which version you play, Ristar delivers a fantastic experience with beautiful graphics, a wonderful soundtrack, and solid gameplay.

A key feature of the game Ristar is the main character’s stretchy arm, which he uses to reach far-off areas. He can also use it to fight enemies, and the surrounding environment offers similar opportunities for attack. It all makes for a really intuitive experience.
