Tom Hardy’s 2021 superhero movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is currently doing well on streaming platforms. It’s the second film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which also includes movies like Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter. The movie features Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson, and was directed by Andy Serkis.
As of January 30, 2026, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is gaining popularity on Disney+, currently ranking as the fourth most-watched film on the streaming service. This comes nearly five years after it first hit theaters.
The new documentary Disneyland Handcrafted is currently number one, followed by The Princess and the Frog and Tron: Ares. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Avatar, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame complete the top ten.
On the television side, the most popular titles right now include Wonder Man, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Pole to Pole with Will Smith, Zootopia+, Tell Me Lies, Minnie’s Bow Toons: Pet Hotel, Little Angel, Shifting Gears, Bluey Minisodes, and Taylor Swift: The End of an Era.
Once Sony allowed Spider-Man to appear in Marvel movies, they surprisingly started building their own separate Spider-Man film series that doesn’t include the hero himself.
The first Venom movie, featuring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, came out in 2018 and earned $856 million worldwide. While critics didn’t love it – giving it a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – audiences really enjoyed the film, with an 80% audience score.
Critics generally liked the 2021 movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage much more than the first one, giving it a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also did well financially, earning over $500 million worldwide.
Although the Venom films aren’t officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the ending of Venom: Let There Be Carnage links directly to Spider-Man: Far From Home when Spider-Man’s secret identity is revealed. Tom Hardy then makes a brief appearance in the credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home, leaving a piece of the Venom symbiote behind, hinting at future events.
The final Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance, made over $470 million at the box office, but received a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Venom movies were Sony’s most popular Spider-Man Universe films. While Kraven the Hunter is said to be the last movie in the series, Sony has denied this is true.
Even though critics haven’t loved the Venom movies, the recent success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage on Disney+ shows that people are still enjoying them. While Eddie Brock’s story might be finished for now, Marvel fans clearly continue to love Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the character.
