5 shows not to miss this week: The final season of streaming-hit action series and BBC sitcom reboot

A lot of exciting new shows are coming to TV this week, including dramas, comedies, and reality programs. A major highlight is the fifth and final season of Prime Video’s The Boys, which concludes the series after seven years.

Hugh Bonneville is back as Ian Fletcher in Twenty Twenty Six, a new series continuing the stories from W1A and Twenty Twelve. This time, the show follows his work preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

Okay, so if you’re into really gripping, intense shows, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, called The Testaments, is coming out. It’s based on Margaret Atwood’s amazing book, and it jumps forward in time to follow June Osborne’s (Elisabeth Moss) daughter, Agnes (Chase Infiniti), years after everything that happened in the original series. It’s gonna be a wild ride!

Here are five top picks from BBC, ITV, Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO/Sky to watch in the next few days.

Twenty Twenty Six

If you didn’t catch the funny series W1A on BBC, you’re in luck! Hugh Bonneville is back as Ian Fletcher in a new show where he takes on the role of Director of Integrity for the FIFA World Cup.

Now that Ian has moved from London’s Broadcasting House to Miami, his hilariously clumsy assistant, Will – famous for saying “yeah no cool” – is coming along for the ride, promising plenty of mishaps and mayhem.

The Boys, season 5

The latest and final season of the popular superhero comedy series arrives this week, bringing the Prime Video show to a close.

The season finale was a massive success on streaming platforms, racking up 1.3 billion minutes viewed in its first week. This has created a lot of excitement for the upcoming final episodes.

After the recent events, Homelander is now in control, ruling according to his unpredictable and self-centered desires. Meanwhile, Butcher starts a series of actions that will have lasting and significant consequences for everyone and everything.

Viewers can look forward to seeing Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins, the stars of Supernatural, together again.

The Boys season five will premiere with two episodes on Wednesday, 8 April on Prime Video.

The Testaments

Chase Infiniti stars in One Battle After Another, a new series inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel, much like The Handmaid’s Tale.

The story centers on Agnes, the daughter of a character from the previous series, who lives a protected life in the oppressive world of Gilead. When she becomes friends with a newcomer named Daisy from Canada, Agnes starts to understand how much control Gilead has over them and begins to fight back.

Bruce Miller, the creator of the show, has likened The Testaments to Mean Girls, explaining that it explores the experience of being young and vibrant in a society attempting to suppress individuality.

The Testaments is available to watch on Wednesday, 8 April on Disney+.

Euphoria, season 3

The popular HBO teen drama has returned for a third season, which is expected to be its last.

It looks like the HBO drama created by Sam Levinson may be ending. Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Head of Drama, told Deadline that while nothing is certain, conversations have begun about wrapping up the series.

I’m confident you’ll really enjoy this season and the complete stories we tell for each character.

The third season of Euphoria will debut on HBO Max in the US on April 12th. Viewers in the UK can watch it starting April 13th on HBO Max, Sky, and NOW.
