5 of the best Monster Hunter Wilds mods on Nexusmods
The Monster Hunter series boasts a rich tradition of high-quality modifications, with numerous creations primarily focusing on enhancing user experience through quality-of-life adjustments, bug corrections, aesthetic upgrades, and gameplay refinements. Notably, the modding community for Monster Hunter Wilds is relatively new but robust, and we’ve curated five exceptional and valuable modifications available for download on Nexusmods at this moment.
Just a heads up, modifying the game (Wilds) is at your discretion. Capcom has been lenient with mods previously, but since this is an online game, altering it may lead to potential repercussions within the gaming environment.
Five of the best Monster Hunter Wilds mods
These mods on the given list are versatile and suitable for all players, irrespective of their skill level or playstyle. I’ve aimed to make them efficient in terms of performance, so you won’t find any resource-intensive Reshade presets here. However, I will mention my personal favorite towards the end, but be cautious as it requires a high-performance PC for optimal functioning.
REFramework
Similar to numerous other modding communities, the Monster Hunter Wilds scene relies on a fundamental framework called REFramework. This foundation serves as the basis for creating high-quality mods, making it easier for users to integrate most additional tools or code they choose to add with relative ease and smoothness.
For an optimal experience with Monster Hunter Wilds, consider installing REFramework as your initial mod. The installation process is straightforward: download it from Nexus and position it within your main Wilds folder, typically found at steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds. After that, simply make sure the reframework folder resides in the game’s root directory, as you’ll be adding other mod files to this location later on.
Monster Weakness Icon Indicator
The Monster Weakness Icon Indicator, one of the easiest modifications to implement, places a small icon next to big monsters’ images indicating their weaknesses. This distinctive monster image, also found in the monster guide, is utilized on the world map and in pre-quest artwork as well.
Keep in mind that small indigenous creatures and unique species lack a weakness symbol because they neither possess nor require one. Overpowering them is surprisingly straightforward, even using just the basic starting equipment.
Skip Pouch Replace Prompt
This life-enhancing mod, titled “Skip Pouch Replace,” performs as advertised. When you’re out collecting resources, if your personal pouch is already full, the items will automatically transfer to your handler’s field pouch without any extra prompts. This smooth process streamlines the game by eliminating an unnecessary sub-menu.
Invisible Mantles
In Monster Hunter, we’re focusing on aesthetics with the Invisible Mantles now. From the beginning, it’s been about being a Fashion Hunter as much as having top-notch weapons. Now, looking fabulous is nearly as crucial as having the newest and most powerful gear. Although gear like the Chaos Mantle (and any other mantle) can be impressive, they can limit your style. However, with the new system, you can sport your best outfits without compromising the carefully crafted layered armor you’ve perfected over time.
MHWilds Overlay
Among the mods listed, MHWilds Overlay stands out as the most intricate and challenging to set up, but it’s incredibly valuable for optimizing gameplay in endgame scenarios and data gathering. This mod enriches your HUD with extensive information about monsters, such as their total health, your and your teammates’ DPS and overall damage outputs, monster statuses and afflictions, and a myriad of other details.
If you cram every detail onto the screen, it may become overly busy. To avoid this clutter, focus only on the currently targeted boss (referred to as “Boss” in the REFramework mod menu) and customize the other icons according to your preference.
My Favorite ReShade Preset: Wilds Rehydrated
Essentially, Wilds Rehydrated functions by refining a basic concept of ReShade: it removes the default screen haze that appears oddly, enhancing the clarity and vibrancy of colors as well as improving the overall visual lighting effects.
One potential rephrase could be: “The main problem with this preset is the potential drop in performance, which can vary greatly depending on your system’s components. It’s possible to experience a decrease of 2-4 frames per second, even on modern hardware. However, I am willing to accept that modest yet discernible reduction in performance for the more appealing visual style it provides.
