Later this month, the biggest cryptocurrency marketplace in the world will briefly pause some of its features.
The platform will also remove several trading options to safeguard users and ensure a reliable trading experience.
The Upcoming Disruptions
Binance will be updating its systems for both the Tron and Zcash networks soon. On July 23rd, they’ll briefly stop accepting TRX deposits and withdrawals for about an hour while they maintain the Tron wallet. They’re also preparing for a Zcash upgrade, which means ZEC deposits and withdrawals will be temporarily paused as well.
According to an official announcement, the network upgrade and hard fork are scheduled to happen at block 3,428,143, which is expected to be around July 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM UTC.
Token trading won’t be affected by these changes, and Binance has assured users they’ll take care of all the necessary technical details.
It’s common for exchanges to do this kind of work, and it rarely causes major problems for users. Just last month, Binance temporarily stopped Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals to update their wallets, similar to what’s happening now.
Before this recent instance, the company had previously taken comparable steps to help enhance several other blockchain networks like Ethereum and Cardano. Reports indicate these actions were successful, with any minor disruptions resolved quickly.
The Other Updates
As a researcher following the cryptocurrency space, I’ve been tracking Binance’s regular assessments of its listed digital assets. They have a pretty rigorous process for evaluating projects based on things like the team behind them, how actively they’re developing their technology, trading activity, and overall network health. Recently, after one of these reviews, Binance decided to remove several spot trading pairs from its platform – specifically ACX/USDC, ALGO/BTC, CVC/USDC, LPT/USDC, ONG/BTC, RVN/USDC, and XRP/BNB. These delistings are planned to take effect on July 24th.
On July 24th, we’ll be applying the same changes to several trading pairs in the Margin section. This includes the following cross margin pairs: CYBER/USDC, DOLO/USDC, PIXEL/USDC, and STEEM/USDC. It also applies to these isolated margin pairs: DOLO/USDC, PIXEL/USDC, and STEEM/USDC.
Recent announcements haven’t caused prices of cryptocurrencies to fall. But when Binance stops supporting a digital asset, the price usually drops significantly. For example, last month when Binance removed Alchemix (ALCX), Ardor (ARDR), NFPrompt Token (NFP), and Marlin (POND), their values each fell by double-digit percentages. We saw a similar pattern in early June with Contentos (COS), Dar Open Network (D), Highstreet (HIGH), and MOBOX (MBOX) after Binance ended support for those coins.
