As winter really starts to settle in, it’s the perfect time to enjoy great movies on Netflix. As the most well-known streaming service, Netflix led the way in digital entertainment and completely changed how people watch movies and TV.
Netflix has a huge selection of both classic movies and original shows. With so many options, deciding what to watch can be overwhelming. Luckily, a few titles really shine and deserve to be at the top of your list this week.
3. Miracle: The Boys Of ’80 (2026)
Just in time for the Winter Olympics, Netflix has released a documentary that’s sure to get American fans pumped up. Called Miracle: The Boys of ’80, it tells the incredible true story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team and their stunning victory over the seemingly unbeatable Soviet Union, ultimately leading them to the gold medal. It’s a classic underdog tale!
The film combines archival footage and recent interviews to both honor the event and explore its historical context. Importantly, it uses the U.S. Olympic victory as a way to examine broader global issues from 1980. Think of Miracle: The Boys of ’80 as a preview of what’s to come with the Olympics.
2. Best In Show (2000)
The comedy world is mourning the loss of Catherine O’Hara, a truly unforgettable talent. Luckily, one of her funniest movies, Best in Show, is currently available to stream on Netflix. This hilarious mockumentary follows the quirky characters who compete in the Mayflower Dog Show, brought to life with charm and wit by director Christopher Guest.
The movie boasts a stellar cast, featuring Catherine O’Hara and her frequent co-star, Eugene Levy. Filmed in a mockumentary style, the actors had plenty of room to improvise, making the movie feel relaxed and genuine. It’s a lighthearted comedy that’s ideal for streaming – the kind of feel-good entertainment you can watch again and again.
1. The Rip (2026)

As a huge movie fan, I’ve always known Netflix could attract big names, but the new film The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, feels different – it’s a really major deal for them. The story follows two Miami cops who stumble upon a massive pile of cash at a crime scene, and it quickly tears their partnership apart as they both try to take it. It’s a thriller that critics are enjoying, and from what I’ve heard, it’s easily one of the biggest, most ambitious projects Netflix has ever undertaken.
The cast of The Rip is strong, featuring both well-known actors and exciting new talent. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck share a convincing on-screen connection, and this film likely would have been a huge hit in theaters before streaming became so popular. It’s therefore not surprising that it’s been at the top of the Netflix charts since its release in mid-January.
