M3GAN 2.0 tops HBO Max’s streaming chart

Despite initially underperforming in theaters, the movie M3GAN 2.0 is now a popular success on HBO Max, quickly becoming one of the platform’s top titles. It premiered on June 27, 2025, and is reaching more viewers through streaming.

This week, M3GAN 2.0 is the most popular movie on HBO Max in several countries, including Argentina, Mexico, and Chile, according to Flix Patrol. It’s currently beating out other films like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Sinners in viewership.

M3GAN 2.0 earned about $10 million in its opening weekend from 3,112 theaters. So far, it’s made around $24 million domestically and $14 million internationally, bringing its total earnings to $39 million. While it performed well, the sequel didn’t reach the same heights as the first M3GAN movie, which premiered in January 2023. The original film opened with $30 million and ultimately grossed around $95 million domestically and $84 million internationally, for a worldwide total of over $180 million.

In the new film, the technology behind the M3GAN doll is stolen and used by a defense contractor to build Amelia, a dangerous military spy. With humanity at risk, Gemma must bring M3GAN back online – upgrading her to be faster, stronger, and more deadly – leading to a showdown between the two A.I. creations.
