In Monster Hunter Wilds, players have the choice between capturing or defeating their targets. Each decision offers its own advantages. To catch a monster, players must take certain precautions beforehand. They’ll need to gather shock traps, pitfall traps, and tranquilizer bombs, which they will craft themselves using their gathered materials, as these items aren’t for sale. When a monster is close to defeat, as signaled by a flashing skull on the mini-map, players can set up a trap and follow up with tranquilizer bombs once the creature has been trapped. Capturing monsters often results in more resources and Hunter Rank experience, but some parts can only be obtained by killing and dismantling them.
