In the land of milk and honey, a chosen few sip from a golden cup that’s overflowing with more cash than a pirate’s dream.
According to the Fed’s arithmetic wizardry, the cream of the crop, the top 10% of our fine folks, are sitting on a mountain of dough worth a cool $107.794 trillion. That’s a lot of zeroes, folks!
Meanwhile, the middle class, those in the 50% to 90% bracket, are cozying up with a mere $48.54 trillion. And the bottom 50%? Well, they’re playing with a pocketful of peanuts – just $4.01 trillion in wealth.
Now, the top 0.1% are swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck, worth a whopping $22.14 trillion. And the 99% to 99.99%? They’re not too shabby either, with a collective wealth of $27.32 trillion. But the 90%-99%? They’re the ‘average Joes’ with $58.334 trillion to their names.

When it comes to where the rich park their cash, the Fed’s numbers tell a tale of stocks and shares. The wealthiest 10% have stuffed a massive $40.84 trillion into corporate equities and mutual fund shares. Talk about playing the market!
As for the rest of us, we’re busy mowing our lawns and painting our picket fences, with a good chunk of our wealth tied up in real estate – $26.99 trillion to be exact. And let’s not forget the $5.99 trillion we’ve got in stocks and mutual fund shares. Every little bit helps, right?

By the Fed’s count, 133,378 households are rolling in it so hard they’re the top 0.1%. Another 1.198 million households are living large in the 99% to 99.9% bracket, and 11.992 million households are feeling pretty good in the 90% to 99% range.
But don’t worry, there’s plenty of us in the 50% to 90% bracket – 53.305 million households strong. And the bottom 50%? Well, that’s a whopping 66.646 million households. Here’s to hoping for a slice of that wealth pie! 🍴
