Nintendo and Disney are two of the most influential entertainment franchises ever created. For decades, each company has shaped its respective field, creating iconic experiences for multiple generations. Nintendo, in particular, has given gamers countless cherished memories through beloved series like Super Mario, Metroid, and Donkey Kong.
Marvel comics have given us countless beloved stories over the years. With so many powerful characters in both the Marvel and DC universes, it’s fun to consider how they’d fare against each other. Fans have been wanting this crossover for a long time, and it’s sure to be exciting!
Okay, let’s talk about Bowser! He’s been causing trouble for Mario and Princess Peach ever since the original Super Mario Bros. game came out way back in 1985. Honestly, he used to feel like a major villain – almost like the Thanos of the Mario universe! Though, lately, they’ve been showing him as a bit of a silly, goofy character, which is… different.
A fight between the Hulk and Bowser would be a dream come true for many Marvel fans. Both are large, green, and incredibly powerful, making them a perfect pairing for an epic battle. Imagining Bowser causing trouble in the Marvel universe, just as he does in Nintendo games, would be amazing – hopefully, someone will make this crossover a reality.
The Marvel universe is full of villainous groups – the Brotherhood of Mutants, the Serpent Society, the Sinister Six, and many more. So, adding another wouldn’t be out of place. Team Rocket, a recurring problem for players of Pokémon games, could easily become a major threat taking on heroes like The Avengers or The Fantastic Four.
Whether they’d actually be a match for other heroes is another question. They often lose to teenage heroes, so you might assume they’d be easily defeated by most established Marvel teams. However, it would still be really entertaining to see them team up with others. A battle between Meowth and Doop from X-Statix, for example, would be awesome!
Fans are excited about Pigma Dengar’s return in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game. Pigma is known for being a treacherous character – he’ll betray anyone to achieve his own goals, a trait shared by many memorable Marvel villains.
Okay, so picture this: Pigma, this seriously notorious space pirate, would be amazing as a villain in a Guardians of the Galaxy or Nova Corps game. Honestly, on his own, he’s kinda a joke, a bit of a screw-up. But if he actually tried, he could be a real threat. The guy is totally self-centered, and it’s obvious, which makes me really want to see one of the good guys – like Star-Lord or Nova – finally knock him down a few pegs. It’d be so satisfying!
Mother Brain is a truly memorable villain from Nintendo’s history. Originally created by the ancient Chozo race as an artificial intelligence, she’s become increasingly menacing with each appearance in the Metroid series, and is perhaps best known for her role in…
With so many Marvel characters who could battle Mother Brain, The Vision stands out as a particularly strong opponent. If not facing Vision directly, Mother Brain would still have a tough fight against someone like Captain Marvel, who’s dealt with powerful AI villains before.
King K. Rool is a classic villain! He’s been causing problems for Donkey Kong ever since the original Donkey Kong Country game in 1994. Despite his silly appearance, he’s always been a tough opponent for Nintendo’s heroes, and that would probably hold true even if he joined the Marvel universe.
Marvel fans are most excited about a potential fight between King K. Rool and Kraven the Hunter. Kraven is known for hunting large animals, and King K. Rool definitely fits that description. Kraven has even battled the Lizard, a powerful villain, and proven his skills. While both are villains themselves, they would be fierce rivals if they ever met.
Andross is coming back in a major way this year, just like another villainous scientist. If Andross ever joined the Marvel universe, there’s one character he’d be a perfect match against.
Dr. Doom is taking a major role in both the Avengers: Doomsday event and the current Avengers: Armageddon comic storyline. As a key figure in the Marvel Universe, seeing Victor von Doom engage in a clever, strategic conflict with another brilliant and ruthless villain is a dream come true for comic book fans.
For anyone familiar with the Metroid series, Ridley is a legendary villain. He’s appeared in more than half of the Metroid games and has been a major threat to Samus Aran ever since Super Metroid on the Super Nintendo. Like Mother Brain, Ridley played a huge role in making Super Metroid one of the greatest games of all time.
Ripley would be a powerful character in the Marvel universe, and a natural enemy for him would be Wolverine (Weapon X). Considering how well Wolverine has fought a dinosaur-like mutant, seeing him battle another dragon-like creature would be a great fit.
Talking about Porky Minch is tough because revealing anything about him would spoil one of the greatest video games ever made. However, it’s important to say that he’s one of the most compelling and well-developed villains in gaming history. He begins as someone who’s been mistreated and causes trouble, and his story only gets more intense from there. Porky Minch has truly become a legendary character.
Porky and Iron Man (Tony Stark) would be a fantastic pairing! Both characters famously use robotic suits, making them a perfect fit for fans of technology and adventure. But beyond potential team-ups, Porky is a truly well-developed character that anyone who appreciates great storytelling should check out.
A lot of us probably first met Kefka in Final Fantasy Anthology on PlayStation – that collection had both Final Fantasy V and VI. But it’s cool to remember he actually debuted earlier than that. And honestly? He made a huge first impression!
Kefka is famous for being one of the most villainous characters in the entire Final Fantasy series. It would be incredibly satisfying to see Captain America scold him – or even knock some sense into him! Someone really needs to create a comic book crossover featuring these two, as it would be a hugely rewarding experience for fans who enjoyed both franchises during the 90s.
While Bowser is often seen as Nintendo’s biggest villain, Ganondorf is a close second. In this article, we explore which Marvel characters would be good opponents for various Nintendo villains. Finding a fitting match for Ganondorf is particularly challenging. If you have any suggestions, please share them in the comments!
Ganondorf has always been a dangerous villain, but he felt especially menacing in Tears of the Kingdom. Players saw him in many different forms, and his final transformation into a massive, demonic dragon made for one of the most incredible boss battles in video game history. If you’re looking for a Marvel hero who’s familiar with fighting giant dragons, Shang-Chi would be a perfect match. A battle between Ganondorf and Shang-Chi would be legendary. Hopefully, we’ll eventually get to see these kinds of crossovers and discover which Nintendo villains could stand up to Marvel’s strongest heroes.
