Chris Hemsworth may have let it slip that Thor will be returning in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Filming for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to start later this year. The movie, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo (known as the Russo Brothers), will hit US theaters in 2027. It’s a follow-up to Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently being finished and will be released this December.
Okay, so we’ve pretty much got the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday nailed down, but things are still a bit hazy when it comes to Secret Wars. I know Letitia Wright and Simu Liu are definitely coming back, and there’s buzz about Sadie Sink playing a new, secret character, but Marvel hasn’t officially revealed everyone who’ll be in it yet. It’s keeping fans guessing, which, honestly, is part of the fun!
What did Chris Hemsworth say about Avengers: Secret Wars?
BuzzFeed UK recently interviewed Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo, who all appear together in the upcoming movie Crime 101. They were challenged to list every superhero film they’ve ever starred in.
Hemsworth started counting, but paused at five. Ruffalo pointed out that Hemsworth was actually on six.
“Six?” Hemsworth asked.
“Well, there will be,” Ruffalo answered.
“Yeah, but we haven’t shot that one,” Hemsworth said.
Although Hemsworth hasn’t directly said Secret Wars is the unfilmed project, he’s appeared in more than six Marvel Cinematic Universe films overall. He’s been in five Avengers movies so far, and six if you include Secret Wars. Interestingly, a closer look at a whiteboard Hemsworth was writing on shows he seemed to be counting numbers beside the word “Avengers” when he originally stated the number five.
Because of recent events, many fans believe Thor will appear in the upcoming movie, Secret Wars, which is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Before that, Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on December 18, 2026.
