Okay, so Zootopia 2 is finally here, and while the movie itself delivers a fresh, engaging case for Judy and Nick, honestly, everyone’s talking about what happens after the credits roll. That little scene? It strongly suggests Disney is planning something much bigger for the Zootopia world – and the director and producer are already starting to hint at what that could be!

What happens in Zootopia 2’s post-credits scene at the end?
The case involving Gary De’Snake is closed in Zootopia 2, but a post-credits scene hints at what’s next for Judy and Nick in Zootopia 3. The scene shows Judy back home, holding the carrot-shaped recording pen – a meaningful item she originally shared with Nick. Nick returns the repaired pen to her after their latest case, sweetly saying, “Love ya, partner.”
Judy listened to the recording over and over, which annoyed the people next door – they made their displeasure known by banging on the walls. Finally, she stopped the recording, put her pen on the windowsill, and left the room. Almost immediately, a strange sound filled the apartment, and a single feather floated down, landing near the pen.
The short clip at the end of the movie is interesting because birds haven’t appeared in either of the Zootopia films. The first movie explored relationships between predators and prey among mammals, and the second focused on reptiles who had been kept hidden. This suggests birds will be a significant part of the story if Zootopia 3 is made – perhaps as a new group of characters, a new puzzle to solve, or even the next villains.
Jared Bush and Yvett Merino break down Zootopia 2 post-credits scene
Director Jared Bush and producer Yvett Merino have sparked talk of a possible sequel after including a mysterious feather in the film. Bush hinted at the potential for future stories, telling ScreenRant that the world of Zootopia is full of possibilities and that the feather is meant to get audiences wondering what could happen next.
As a huge fan of Zootopia, I loved hearing producer Yvett Merino talk about how they always envisioned the world as much larger than just the city we see in the movie. It’s exciting to think that what we’ve seen is only a small piece of a much bigger ecosystem – one that definitely has room for birds and all sorts of other animals we haven’t met yet! It really opens up the possibilities for where they could take the story next.
Although Disney hasn’t officially confirmed a Zootopia 3, hints from the creators and what happened after the credits of the second movie suggest it’s still a possibility.
