I’m absolutely blown away by how well Zootopia 2 is doing! It came out right before Thanksgiving and had the second-biggest 5-day opening for that holiday weekend ever – only Moana 2 from last year did better. And get this – just a week and a bit after its release, it became only the seventh Disney animated movie ever to make over $600 million around the world! It’s incredible!
According to Variety, Zootopia 2 is expected to reach $915.8 million worldwide by the end of its second weekend in theaters. Remarkably, it will have earned over $900 million in just 12 days. Based on current numbers, it’s almost certain the film will surpass $1 billion soon.
It’s impressive how quickly this film reached this milestone, especially since only three other movies scheduled for 2025 have earned over $900 million so far: A Minecraft Movie, Lilo & Stitch, and Ne Zha 2. Of those, Lilo & Stitch and Ne Zha 2 are the only ones that have reached $1 billion in earnings this year.
