Zoë Foster Blake announces shock career change - and why Nicole Kidman could play the makeup mogul onscreen

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Zoë Foster Blake’s latest move into television is nothing short of inspiring. The woman is a powerhouse, balancing motherhood, a multimillion-dollar career, and now, a foray into the world of TV production.

Zoë Foster Blake is setting out to forge a new career in television.

The 44-year-old entrepreneur behind Go-To Skincare has recently secured a deal for television adaptation of her upcoming novel titled “Things Will Calm Down Soon.

There’s a possibility that Nicole Kidman may be cast as the leading character, who shares a likeness to the actual person known as Blake – a businesswoman.

On Friday, according to TV Tonight, it was announced that Blake has reached an agreement with an American production company based in Sydney, named Made Up Stories, who intend to develop the book into a television series in the United States.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m excited to share that I’m closely following the high-profile endeavor spearheaded by the talented producer, Bruna Papandrea. Interestingly enough, she maintains a strong connection with the renowned actress, Nicole Kidman.

This renowned actor from Hollywood has previously appeared in several productions by Made Up Stories, such as “The Undoing” on HBO in both 2020 and 2021, “Nine Perfect Strangers” in 2021, and the anthology series “Roar” for Apple+ in 2022.

The 57-year-old Oscar winner also co-produced the 2017 HBO hit Big Little Lies with Papandrea.

Blake, mother to Sonny (8) and Rudy (5), together with her famous spouse Hamish, has also disclosed that she will serve as an executive producer for the upcoming television show.

Recently, the story titled “Things Will Settle Down Soon” focuses around a 30-year-old woman named Kit, an experienced hairstylist, who embarks on the venture of creating her own product line.

However, matters become intricate when the potential business magnate encounters complications with investors, while dealing with heartbreak in romance and pressures from family obligations.

In her statement, Papandrea expressed that, being a woman entrepreneur, a mother, and an avid reader, she instinctively felt compelled to transform Zoë’s captivating, intricate, and inspiring book into a television series set in the United States.

She went on to say: ‘I’m still motivated to create fantastic items that I can’t wait for everyone to experience. The world should get acquainted with Kit, a woman who is reminiscent of numerous remarkable women I am familiar with.’

Blake, meanwhile said was ‘excited’ that Made Up Stories is setting out to adapt her book.

2014 saw the publication of renowned author Blake’s adult novel, titled “The Wrong Girl”. In 2016, this book was transformed into a brief-running television show on Channel 10, sharing the same title.

Recently, Blake’s disclosure shed light on the impact of juggling motherhood and a high-earning career on her psychological wellbeing.

In an interview with Stellar Magazine last month she said:

As someone who’s deeply committed, I can relate to adopting that ‘survivor mentality’ during intense periods. The belief that things will eventually settle down serves as a beacon of hope, much like a carrot dangling before a runner. However, many women I know share the same sentiment – “It’s just how we navigate our lives; things will calm down soon.” Here’s the kicker: It doesn’t always hold true.

She continued: ‘I feel like there’s a lot of awareness about the mental load – which was something we didn’t even have a name for – and the admin load, and being overstimulated. I go, “Oh, I’m not a bitch, I’m just overstimulated.”

‘My friends will text me and say, “Another book? How are you doing it all?” There’s a genuine curiosity and my genuine answer is: at great cost – to my mental health, to my time with my family, to my physical health.

As a devoted enthusiast, let me tell you, the sacrifices I made to ensure the successful completion of this project were absolutely monumental!

The businesswoman recently broke her silence on buying back her stake in her skincare brand Go-To after beauty company BWX went into administration.

In 2021, the Australian author initially transferred an 51.5% ownership share of her cosmetics company to a publicly traded beauty corporation listed on the ASX for approximately $89 million.

Two years on, Blake and co-founder Paul Bates repurchased the majority share of their company for only $21.8 million, a significant reduction from its original value. This came about as BWX fell into administration in April 2023.
