Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show replacement announced: Scott Mills to take over from veteran presenter as she steps down to ‘focus on family’
As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Zoe Ball’s decision to step down from hosting the Radio 2 breakfast show after six years is not only understandable but also commendable. The early morning hours can take a toll on even the most energetic among us, and family always comes first.
Zoe Ball, a presenter on BBC, has declared that she will relinquish her duties as host of the Radio 2 breakfast show come December, with Scott Mills taking over the position thereafter, who is known as her close friend.
This morning, the 53-year-old made an announcement on air that she’s chosen to resign from her position, yet she intends to stay with the station.
As I share this news on-air, let me express my heartfelt gratitude for the six remarkable years spent hosting the Radio 2 Breakfast Show. Now, it’s time for me to bid farewell to those early mornings and redirect my focus towards my beloved family. It has been an honor serving you all.
As a lifestyle enthusiast speaking directly to you, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation. To my esteemed colleagues who are listening, I am deeply grateful for your companionship and the opportunity to serve you. This year, in particular, I’ve found myself incredibly fortunate to be backed by exceptional leaders here, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in navigating through these challenging times.
I want to extend a big thank you to my fantastic crew on the program – Tina, Mike, and Richie – as well as our audience who have joined me through the ups and downs, the joyous moments, the challenging times, and even the silly ones.
Ball was the first female host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in 1998, a post she held until 2000.
For a span of three years starting from 1996, she teamed up with Jamie Theakston as co-host on the BBC’s Saturday morning program Live & Kicking, which was geared towards children.
In a formal announcement, she expressed that after six wonderful years hosting the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, she is choosing to leave behind those early mornings to devote more time to her family. She considered it an honor to have been part of this experience.
I deeply appreciate each one of you, my listeners, and I’m truly thankful for the backing I’ve received from my superiors this year.
Ball announced that her final performance is scheduled for December 20th, mentioning that it would be perfect for a Christmas-time extravaganza filled with merriment and antics.
As I take a break from the Breakfast Show, you won’t lose sight of me completely – I’ll remain a valued member of the Radio 2 team, bringing you updates and new content starting in the New Year.
I’m thrilled to embark on my upcoming phase, where I’ll be a mom during mornings, and I can hardly contain my anticipation for our daily school-time chats!
After causing worry due to an unexplained six-week break from broadcasting, the host has chosen to take a leave from the program.
In September, she resumed her broadcasts with the usual flair, warmly greeting her fans and inquiring, “What did I miss?
Apart from that, Ball additionally expressed gratitude towards her fellow team member and radio host Scott Mills, who filled in for her, mentioning: “I just wanted to thank Scott for taking care of the show, and also Spoony for looking after Scott’s show.
Originally, he was scheduled to travel globally for DJ gigs during a vacation. However, he needed to alter everything at the last minute. So, a big thanks to you all for your understanding and support.
Many of you have showered me with countless messages, which made a significant impact on me. Therefore, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your kind gestures. Thank you, beautiful people!
Helen Thomas, in charge at Radio 2, shared: “Since January 2019, Zoe has been radiating warmth, humor, and an infectious joy throughout the nation on our airwaves. I want to express my gratitude for how she consistently tackles each program with energy and enthusiasm that feels like it’s her very first time.
‘I’m thrilled that that she’ll remain an important part of the Radio 2 family.’
Ever since Ball brought us the captivating spin-off show “Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two” and the spellbinding reality competition “Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream,” I just can’t get enough of the magic he weaves on television!
