Zoe Ball makes “tearful” surprise appearance on BBC Radio 2 breakfast show

On his debut as host of the BBC Radio 2 morning program, Scott Mills was caught off guard by Zoe Ball expressing a mix of emotions, including feelings of tears brought on by pride.

In simpler terms, after airing her last episode of the morning program last month, Ball decided to call Mills to offer congratulations on his new position – and expressed her feelings about handing over the role to him.

Hi there, that’s you? It’s Zoe here. I’ve got a feeling that my enthusiasm for your debut performance might surpass your current level of excitement. That was her message to Mills.

She frequently finds herself on the verge of tears. She wants you to understand, she is incredibly proud of you, and she wanted to express that. Moreover, she believes deeply that you have a natural talent for what you’re doing.

During his first day on the job, Mills promised he would give it “absolutely everything”.

Speaking to you all, he expressed: “Reflecting too deeply on those who preceded me in this program can sometimes leave me astounded, considering I was once a child dreaming of being on the radio and doubting if I had enough self-assurance to make it happen.

The goal is to bring a smile to your face, lift your spirits, get you grooving with your shoulders and head, whether it be in bed, shower, car, or kitchen, and help maintain a positive outlook, even on those mornings when you might not be feeling your best.

Additionally, he invited listeners to connect with the show whenever they desire or feel inclined to do so.

Mills stated, “Including me in your daily morning rituals would truly be special, as I promise to put in my utmost effort.

“I really hope you enjoy it. Let’s go.”

Last November, Ball announced she would step down from the Radio 2 breakfast show after six years.

In her final morning show, Ball expressed gratitude to her audience, stating it had been an honor to spend mornings with them for quite some time. She further added that they were like old friends, always there while she chatted as if with a buddy.

“It’s such a special intimate relationship. It’s never lost on me,” she said.

If Ball isn’t on Radio 2 right now, she will be back later this year with a fresh program. Further information about the show is anticipated to be revealed soon.
