Zoe Ball Bids Farewell to Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Record-Breaking Audience!
Zoe Ball recently ended her Radio 2 morning program with her highest listener count in nearly two years, according to the latest statistics.
54-year-old individual, who took charge of the program back in 2019, stepped down from the broadcast in December, expressing it as an enjoyable experience and referring to hosting the show as a ‘prize’.
According to data from research organization Rajar, their listener base expanded to a total of 6.8 million individuals during the last three months of 2024.
This was up by nine per cent, or nearly 550,000 from the previous three months.
Her show was also up by more than 250,000 on the same period last year.

Ball has gone through some difficult times with radio audience figures.
During the summer of 2019, it was discovered that she had dropped approximately 800,000 listeners and was surpassed by her longtime colleague, Ken Bruce.
Last summer, the presenter took a break from the airwaves for some time. She briefly came back on August 8th, then returned permanently towards the end of September.
1) The program remains the top-rated morning radio show in the U.K. Scott Mills took over the position towards the end of last month.
2) The program continues to be the most listened-to breakfast radio broadcast in the UK, with Scott Mills stepping into the role recently (at the end of last month).
3) As the number one morning radio show in the U.K., the program maintains its popularity, and Scott Mills started his tenure in the position last month.
4) The show remains the most popular breakfast radio option in the U.K.; Scott Mills began hosting it at the end of last month.
5) The morning radio show still reigns supreme in the U.K., with Scott Mills taking on the role starting from the end of last month.
Radio 2 saw a boost in their weekly listener numbers during the October-December period, with an average of 13.6 million people tuning in each week, thanks to exceptional performances like Ball’s.
This was up from 13.3 million from the same period a year earlier.
According to the BBC, Vernon Kay’s mid-morning program boasted the largest viewership in the nation, attracting an increasing fan base of approximately 7.2 million viewers.
However, Radio 4 saw a significant decline in listeners, with over half a million fewer tuning in during the last three months, as per recent data.

Over the past quarter, I noticed a significant drop in my audience numbers – approximately 647,000 listeners, to be exact. This brings the total down to around 9.0 million from the previous 9.7 million. It’s always challenging when we see such changes, but it’s crucial to adapt and find new strategies to engage our audience effectively.
The popular morning news program, Today, experienced a decrease in viewership by approximately 112,000 viewers during the quarter, dropping from 5.8 million to 5.7 million.
But it was up from 5.6m a year earlier.
Helen Thomas from BBC Radio 2 announced that Zoe Ball is still hosting the United Kingdom’s most popular morning radio program, while Vernon Kay is enjoying impressive ratings that keep climbing higher.
