Zendaya’s Epic Look as Bride-to-Be on The Odyssey Set

On Tuesday, it was observed that Zendaya had a hearty chuckle with a team member while making her initial appearance on the Italian film set for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie version of Homer’s The Odyssey in Southern Italy.

In a charming, airy off-white Greek-style dress, the 28-year-old producer-star, soon to be a bride, was every bit the picture of elegance while filming on the Aegadian Island of Favignana, known for its unique calcarenite rock caves.

At some stage, Ellen Mirojnick was observed discussing costumes with the actress known as Zendaya Coleman.

For the beach photo session, the twice-Emmy winning individual sported an unexpectedly disheveled, braided bun with her brown hair.

On the rugged shore filming location, Zendaya’s co-star, Matt Damon – playing Odysseus in The Odyssey, the renowned ancient Greek king of Ithaca – joined her without a shirt on.

Born in Oakland, this stunning woman is whispered to portray the role of Athena, the ancient Greek goddess renowned for providing wise guidance to Odysseus during his journey back home, while also interfering with deities such as her father Zeus on similar quests.

Zendaya might portray Calypso, a nymph, who uses her strength to imprison Odysseus on the island of Ogygia for a span of seven years, trying to transform him into her immortal spouse.

Additionally, there’s a possibility that Zendaya might portray Nausicaa, the captivating princess, daughter of King Alcinous, who assists Odysseus after his sea voyage leaves him stranded on her island.

The main filming for this project has officially started on February 25, with additional shooting locations including Greece, Morocco, and the United Kingdom.

The global action adventure saga by Universal Pictures, utilizing state-of-the-art IMAX cinema technology, will premiere in cinemas on July 17, 2026.

According to The InSneider on December 26th, the upcoming movie “The Odyssey” is expected to cost an estimated $250 million, marking it as the priciest production in Christopher Nolan’s cinematic career.

In an easy-to-understand manner, the lead actor of Dune: Part Two won’t feel isolated overseas since her partner, Tom Holland, has already begun shooting for his character, Telemachus (son of Odysseus), in another project.

In their fourth collaboration, Zendaya and a 28-year-old British actor appear in The Odyssey following their roles as love interests in three Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man movies.

It’s being whispered that Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway might take on the role of Penelope, the queen of Ithaca and the longed-for wife of Odysseus, as he embarks on a dangerous voyage to return home to her.

According to reports, the Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron is rumored to portray the role of the ancient witch deity Circe in an enchanting mythological narrative spanning over three thousand years. This timeless story is teeming with sirens and a one-eyed giant known as a cyclops.

Alongside Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee, and Mia Goth, the ensemble of The Odyssey boasts a star-studded lineup.

The story of Homer was creatively reimagined for cinema by directors Joel and Ethan Coen in their 2000 film, the comedic musical O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which featured George Clooney as a main character.

Besides Uberto Pasolini’s 2024 drama The Return featuring Ralph Fiennes, other adaptations of The Odyssey also include NBC’s 1997 miniseries with Armand Assante and Mario Camerini’s 1954 film Ulysses, starring Kirk Douglas.

It was announced on Wednesday by Deadline that Zendaya will both produce and portray the role of singer Ronnie Spector in Barry Jenkins’ upcoming biographical film, “Be My Baby,” which is based on her 2022 memoir. This project will be produced by A24.

According to Just Jared, it was reported that the ex-Disney Channel star had been in Los Angeles as recently as Monday evening, where she was overseeing production and reprising her initial role as Ruby ‘Rue’ Bennett during a 12-hour filming session for Max’s third season of Euphoria, which consists of eight episodes.
