At Thursday’s 2026 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards, Zendaya’s outfit was inspired by the styles of two iconic women.
The 29-year-old actress looked stunning in a vintage, one-shoulder floral dress that seemed reminiscent of a classic style.
As a style enthusiast, I instantly recognized that dress! Any Sex and the City fan will remember it – it’s the one Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, famously wore while walking the streets of Manhattan in the very first scene of the 2008 movie. It’s truly an iconic look!
This outfit, chosen by costume designer Patricia Field, is one of Carrie Bradshaw’s most famous looks, but she wasn’t the original owner.
Cachè has created a mini dress inspired by a famous gown originally worn by Whitney Houston. She first appeared in the dress on the cover of Life magazine back in 1987.
Zendaya’s dress at the event echoed classic fashion, but she added her own touch with her accessories – specifically, two gold rings, sparking speculation that she and Tom Holland may have secretly gotten married.
While Zendaya hasn’t officially confirmed the marriage reports, a source told People she was overheard happily accepting congratulations from other celebrities at a recent glamorous event.
Zendaya seemed to suggest she might be getting married when she briefly showed off a gold ring on her finger. This happened after the event’s host, Marsai Martin, playfully asked her for an update on her personal life.
Zendaya, wearing a white gown, was seen with two rings on her left hand’s ring finger while walking the red carpet, sparking speculation about her relationship status.
She didn’t try to conceal her wedding rings as she posed and smiled for the photographers, offering them a series of glamorous shots.
One ring was a Rolling Ring, which has also been called a Trinity Ring or a Russian wedding ring.
The other was a thin gold band that looked like a typical American wedding band.
Rumors started circulating on March 1st that Zendaya had secretly gotten married. This began after Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, jokingly told Access Hollywood at an awards show, ‘The wedding already happened – you all missed it!’
When asked if that was ‘true,’ Law replied: ‘It’s very true!’
Although the couple’s team hasn’t officially confirmed the news, they’ve generally preferred to keep their romance private.
People started speculating about them dating back in 2016, but they didn’t officially confirm their relationship until 2021 when photos surfaced of them kissing.
Tom and Zendaya announced they were engaged in September 2025 when Tom called Zendaya his ‘fiancée’ at a public event.
Tom has repeatedly said he and his partner want to keep their relationship private, as they believe it’s separate from their work as actors.
He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that they deeply value their relationship and want to keep it private and special.
This is purely a personal matter, not related to our jobs or any obligations to others. It’s something we’re doing for ourselves.
Zendaya described her relationship as ‘sacred’ in a GQ interview, explaining she wants to protect its privacy.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the actress explained that she won’t hide her personal life. She said she wants to live authentically and enjoy her relationships, and is currently learning how to balance that with her public image. ‘I can’t pretend to be someone I’m not,’ she explained, ‘and hiding isn’t enjoyable. I’m figuring things out as I go.’
