Zendaya and Tom Holland leave locals stunned after calling into a Cornish café for a fry-up – but owner admits she had ‘no idea’ who they were!
As a long-time resident of Los Angeles, I must admit, the glitz and glamour can sometimes feel overwhelming. But when I moved to Richmond, I was struck by the tranquility that enveloped this charming borough. The sight of Holland and Zendaya strolling through its streets, or enjoying a quiet dinner at their local pub, felt like a breath of fresh air in the midst of Tinseltown’s relentless spotlight.
On a typical day, it isn’t common to see two A-list celebrities strolling into a humble seaside café in Cornwall; however, such an event unfolded when Zendaya and her partner, Tom Holland, made their way to the south-west coast of England on Tuesday.
Locals were taken aback in the charming town of Par, as they opted for hearty breakfast meals at the vibrant, rock ‘n’ roll themed Ramshackle Rosie eatery instead of savoring Michelin-starred dishes.
In a nod to her heritage, the well-known American actress Zendaya, recognized for her performances in HBO’s Euphoria and the Dune movie series, opted for a classic breakfast dish – pancakes smothered in maple syrup.
However, renowned British actor Tom, who became a Hollywood sensation through his portrayal of Spider-Man, opted for the “Zeppelin” breakfast, a dish named after the legendary rock group Led Zeppelin.
According to café owner Helen Woodward, who spoke to Cornwall Live, the two individuals behaved as an ordinary couple and later seemed to head off to Asda.
As a die-hard fan, I found myself tending to a few other patrons when these individuals strolled in. I graciously invited them to find a comfortable spot while I attended to my current customers, and true to my words, they gracefully obliged, settling down as requested.
I have a modest-sized café with just one large table seating around five people. Recently, a group sat there. Since I might need the space for a larger group, I politely requested them to move to a smaller table.
In our recent interaction, another duo casually mentioned, “By the way, did you know they’re well-known figures?” Curiosity piqued, I inquired about their identities, to which they revealed that one of them was none other than Spider-Man himself.
I remarked: ‘They were utterly delightful, genuinely kind individuals. They formed an exceptional pairing, simply the two of them.’
In simpler terms, Woodward, not familiar with the famous pair, speculated that they picked “Par’s Ramshackle Rosie” for their lunch venue since it’s somewhat off the beaten path.
She remarked, “They seemed like an ordinary pair of companions.” Despite my hectic schedule, I unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to engage with them. Truthfully, I doubt we would’ve conversed even if given the chance. They appeared to be there for a morning meal, perhaps preferring privacy.
‘I just gave them their breakfast and left them alone. They left a fiver tip though.’
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I recently had a casual conversation with the humble celebrity, Tom, who shared that they were planning to pop by a local grocery store following their morning meal.
According to ITV West Country, he mentioned my pet dog and gently petted it. We didn’t show any recognition that we recognized their presence.
‘Then after they left I said to the owner, “you know that was Spider-Man, right?”‘
He added: ‘It was a bit surreal, they seemed very down to earth though and he said after breakfast they would go to Asda, which he compared to the American Target.
‘To be fair though, it’s an awesome café.’
Previously, Zendaya was seen savoring a meal outside in the charming neighborhood of Notting Hill, London, not accompanied by her long-term partner, Holland.
In 2016, they crossed paths on the set of Spider-Man, and their relationship officially began in 2021. Sharing a £2.6 million abode in Richmond, not far from Holland’s childhood home, has been their living arrangement since then.
At 14 years old, Zendaya, a seasoned Hollywood actress, seems to value a leisurely walk through Richmond Park or beside the Thames over strutting on the red carpet in LA wearing high-fashion attire.
The pair has occasionally been noticed relishing tranquil evenings out at the neighborhood pub, The Norbiton. They are known to savor stone-baked pizzas there, and they casually shop around at their nearby market.
A local from Richmond shared with The Mail on Sunday: “We often notice them being present in our neighborhood. Tom, who seems to be very devoted to his family, has chosen to stay in this area, and it’s said that she enjoys living here.
People who have interacted with them are quick to praise their manners, and I’ve often heard that they are very polite and thoughtful. It seems she enjoys being here as no one bothers her for photos.
However, there seems to be an unspoken agreement among us to keep our distance from them. Occasionally, you may encounter them at Waitrose, perhaps exchanging a subtle nod, but beyond that, it’s generally understood not to engage further.
In 2018, the actor who’s playing Romeo in the West End’s Romeo and Juliet, purchased a four-bedroom house in Richmond – a location convenient for his family. The home is of a moderate size compared to some properties.
