Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom trailer reveals horses, smoothie shops, powers

As a long-time fan who has journeyed through the vast lands of Hyrule since the days of the NES, I must say that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is shaping up to be an absolute game-changer for the series!

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that in the upcoming Nintendo Switch release, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” Zelda is embracing her inner equestrian! A recent video preview offers a tantalizing glimpse into this new adventure. Throughout the nearly six-minute gameplay, we witness Zelda navigating Hyrule in various ways – on foot, through teleportation points, and atop some truly charming horses.

Riding a horse appears both exhilaratingly swift and enjoyable, allowing Zelda to leap over hurdles (and trample adversaries) that block her path. By casting a carrot-resounding spell, Zelda summons her steed – a magical duplicate of the everyday root vegetable. Just like Link, she can acquire several horses throughout her adventure.

During our exploration of Hyrule, we encounter variations of Zora, Goron, and Deku Scrubs as depicted in ‘Echoes of Wisdom’. Additionally, we gain a glimpse into another skill that Zelda can use due to her Tri Rod. This skill, called Bond, allows Zelda to link with objects within the game world through a magical cord, causing them to move wherever she moves. For instance, in a demonstrative scenario, Zelda bonds with a large boulder and effortlessly shifts it out of the way by walking while connected to it. The Bond ability will aid Zelda in uncovering hidden treasures, relocating bothersome enemies, and much more, according to Nintendo.

Another way to put it could be: “Additionally, there’s a maneuver called ‘Reverse Bond’, where Zelda synchronizes her movements with whatever she’s attached to, be it an object or a creature. With this connection, Zelda can soar through the air, move swiftly, and even surmount obstacles by leveraging the movements of both inanimate objects and living beings.”

In line with the tradition of recent Legend of Zelda games, the outfits and items Zelda can wear in Echoes of Wisdom provide her with additional powers (and a whole new appearance). Additionally, at smoothie shops in this game, Zelda can mix various ingredients to create drinks that boost her strength and confer specific resistances.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is coming to Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26.
