Zayn Malik Shocks Fans by Singing 1D’s ‘Night Changes’ on 10-Year Anniversary of His Exit
Enthusiasts are ecstatic as Zayn Malik recently reprised One Direction’s “Night Changes” after a decade, on a particularly significant day.
Tuesday marked one whole decade since the former boyband member, 32, left the group back in 2015.
He thrilled fans by starting off his inaugural solo arena concert at the Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City with an unexpected rendition of the ballad.
Videos shared on social platforms show a crowd reacting with shouts upon hearing him sing the opening line of the popular song initially released in 2014.
Following the performance, Zayn appeared moved and addressed the audience: “It’s been a decade since I last sang this song. Thanks, that was incredible, I nearly shed tears.
Expressing their surprise, fans commented: “I didn’t expect Zayn Malik to sell out an arena with his first-ever show in 2022, let alone have it on my 2025 prediction list.

Starting with “Night Changes” was undoubtedly an intentional move by Zayn. It seems fitting that he would close this chapter in such a way, especially on the day he parted ways with One Direction. Given his deliberate nature, it’s unlikely he wouldn’t perform a One Direction song after hinting at it.
It wasn’t that Zayn started his concert with “Night Changes” on the 25th of March. After that, nobody seemed to want to talk to me for the remainder of the day…
10 years ago, on March 25th, Zayn parted ways with the band. And now, 10 years later, there I was, watching him perform “Night Changes” on stage for the very first time. Oh, how proud I am of him!
2015 saw One Direction fans reeling after Zayn Malik, at the time 22 years old, dramatically announced his departure from the band, aiming for a more ordinary life.
The new performance comes after the tragic death of his bandmate Liam Payne in October last year.
While on tour, the celebrity, who co-parents a 4-year-old named Khai with ex Gigi Hadid, has been honoring his deceased friend by dedicating the final part of his Stardust performance to him at each show.
Apart from its success, Zayn Malik’s tour stands out for an additional reason: his entire backup band consists of females.
His band has become celebrities recently after going viral on social media.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that I was captivated to learn about the seven exceptional women who joined the star on his tour. Among them were Molly Miller, a gifted guitarist; Lisa Ramey, one of the singers; Tahira Clayton, another talented vocalist; Rebecca Haviland, yet another singer; Tina Hizon, our skillful keyboard player; and lastly, Ryan Madora, who handled the bass. Each of these women played a significant role in enriching the tour with their unique talents.
Lisa posted photos of the band on Instagram, accompanied by the caption: ‘Sending greetings from the ladies.’
Apart from sharing individual posts, Zayn Malik has additionally uploaded photos of the band collectively. The series begins with a snapshot captured in May, prior to the commencement of the tour.
