In a surprising turn of events, the British vocalist unexpectedly presented Jimmy with a note that said: “Hi Jimmy, it’s fantastic to run into you again! I’ve got something exciting – this autumn marks my first-ever solo tour. Perhaps after you’re done harvesting apples with your friends, you could swing by and catch my Stairway To The Sky Tour in both the U.S. and the UK.
‘I’m making an official announcement tomorrow morning, let me know what date you want tickets for.’
More recently, Zayn Malik took the stage at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, an event noteworthy as it signifies his initial major tour since departing from One Direction.
In London during March, it was his first stage appearance since he left the boy band.
In the years since I stepped out from the limelight of my immensely popular boyband, I’ve found myself grappling with scheduling live performances only to ultimately back out. It’s a struggle for me to perform solo due to the overwhelming spiral of anxiety that takes hold when I step onto the stage.
In a memoir published in 2016, the singer shared insights into his struggle against stage fright and anxiety, stating: ‘It was quite vexing to me that, despite my openness about the problem, certain individuals persisted in finding excuses to question it.’ He expressed this sentiment.
‘But that’s the industry.’ He said that being part of One Direction allowed him to push through his anxiety but as a solo performer he had become overwhelmed.
In his writing, he expressed that as a single act artist, he felt incredibly vulnerable, and the mental strain of putting on a performance became overwhelming – at least for that particular time.
In these past few weeks, I’ve found myself back in the limelight, gracing events like New York Fashion Week and the US Open. It’s been quite an exciting journey!
He sported a brand new look at the events, rocking a bushy beard and longer locks.
But for Tuesday’s Fallon appearance the heartthrob had shaved his facial hair down to stubble.
