Zayn Malik reveals the REAL reason for cancelling Newcastle gig at the last minute as he issues heartfelt apology
As a fan who has followed the journey of these young men from boy band to solo artists, I must say I am deeply saddened by the turn of events that led to Liam Payne’s untimely demise. Having watched them grow up on stage and off, it’s heartbreaking to see one of them go so soon.
Zayn Malik recently offered a sincere apology, explaining the truth behind why he had to cancel a performance during his first solo tour.
Previously from One Direction, a 31-year-old artist, had been scheduled to take the stage at Newcastle City Hall on Tuesday evening for a concert as part of his Stairway to the Sky UK tour.
But, mere minutes before he was set to perform on stage, his fans received the disappointing news via an announcement over the loudspeaker that he would not take the stage.
The employee at the concert informed attendees that the performance wouldn’t take place this evening. They regretfully expressed their apologies for the short notice, as he had hoped to carry on with the show.
‘But this is no longer possible. Please contact your point of purchase for reschedule or refunds.
If your parents or caregivers are picking you up, kindly remain in the auditorium until they arrive to collect you.
Since then, Zayn has spoken up about the incident, expressing: “I want to offer my apologies to everyone in Newcastle yesterday. I regret not being able to perform as planned because my voice was completely unwell.
‘I needed a day to kind of rest, I appreciate everyone showing love and still being here.’
Previously, I shared on my Stories during Tuesday evening, “I deeply regret to inform you, but my voice is completely absent tonight, which means there’s no performance. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
I deeply apologize for falling short of expectations, particularly with so little warning in advance… I clung to optimism right up until the end. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that a good night’s sleep will get me ready for the performance tomorrow.
‘My deepest apologies Newcastle. Love you all.’
For some time now, the star has been traveling on his journey titled “Stairway to the Sky Tour,” treating audiences in urban centers like London, Manchester, Leeds, and Wolverhampton to his live performances.
He is due to wrap up in Edinburgh in just a number of days.
Last Friday during their tour, Zayn Malik honored his former bandmate, Liam Payne, by dedicating a performance in Liam’s hometown of Wolverhampton. He expressed that he hopes the late star is able to witness the show.
He kicked off his Stairway To The Sky tour in Leeds’s O2 Academy last week, with an on-stage blue screen message which read: ‘Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro’ with a pink heart.
To clarify, I haven’t personally shared any direct words regarding the recent passing of Payne, who tragically passed away at 31 in Argentina last month, throughout this current tour.
Based on social media clips, it appears that Malik addressed the University of Wolverhampton’s The Halls venue, saying: “Every night during the performance, I’ve been doing something special, which has been dedicated to my late brother Liam Payne. Farewell.
‘I hope you’re seeing this, we’re in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you, Liam.’
Malik adjusted the initial performance dates for his tour in Edinburgh because of Payne’s funeral, a ceremony that was also attended by his bandmates from One Direction: Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
On October 16, Payne succumbed to severe injuries sustained from a fall off a third-story balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, which resulted in both internal and external bleeding.
2015 saw him depart from One Direction prior to the band’s extended break in 2016. Each member subsequently pursued individual solo ventures after that.
After Payne passed away, Malik expressed that he hadn’t had the chance to express gratitude towards his bandmate for standing by him during some of his toughest personal struggles.
He expressed, on Instagram, that when you departed, he tragically lost a brother. If only there was a way for him to embrace you one final time and bid farewell with the proper goodbyes, share his deep affection, and convey how much he revered you.
“I’ll hold dear every moment we shared, close to my heart, for an eternity. As for what I’m feeling now, there are no words that truly capture it; all I can say is that I am overwhelmingly heartbroken.
I wish you’re doing well and finding tranquility wherever you currently reside. Rest assured, you’re deeply cherished. Sending you my love, buddy.
On October 16, Liam tragically passed away following a fall from a third-story balcony at an Argentinean hotel. This past month, his former bandmates from One Direction gathered in public for the first time in nine years to honor him at his funeral.
Originally, the ex-bandmates Harry Styles (age 30), Niall Horan (age 31), Louis Tomlinson (age 32), and Zayn individually attended the church for an emotional farewell ceremony.
As an over-the-moon fan, I found myself donning my favorite all-black ensemble and cruising in my sleek BMW to the heart-wrenching event. Meanwhile, Niall graced the occasion with his lovely companion, Amelia Woolley, while the charismatic Zayn Malik joined us shortly after Louis had made his arrival.
