Zayn Malik gives update on his tour after postponing upcoming US dates following the tragic death of his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne

As a long-time admirer of both Zayn Malik and Liam Payne, reading about their complex bond stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within me. It’s heartbreaking to witness such a poignant message from Zayn, expressing his regrets about the unfulfilled conversations he had hoped to have with his former bandmate.

Zayn Malik recently shared news about his tour schedule, as he delayed the U.S. tour section due to the unfortunate passing of his ex-bandmate from One Direction, Liam Payne.

Tragically, Liam passed away at the age of 31 following a fall from the balcony of a hotel on the third floor in Buenos Aires, last Wednesday. This incident has led to an overwhelming expression of sorrow and astonishment globally.

31-year-old Zayn initially planned to commence his initial solo tour in San Francisco on October 23rd, but announced via Instagram that he’d be postponing the U.S. dates instead.

In light of the devastating grief we’ve collectively felt this past week, I’ve chosen to delay the upcoming US segment of my STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour.

‘The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.’

Excitedly, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm as I eagerly announce that the elusive Zayn has finally unveiled the revised schedule for his “Stairway to the Sky” tour! Taking to his Instagram Stories, he shared an updated poster, gleaming with dates that stretch from January into the enchanting month of February.

The performer has scheduled seven concerts across North America, beginning with a show in Washington D.C. on January 21st and concluding in San Francisco on February 3rd.

Apart from his studio release, Room Under the Stairs, he is scheduled to perform live at sports arenas in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York, playing some of his biggest hits.

Over the past six years, Zayn crafted his album in a rural region of Pennsylvania, which he launched in May this year. The album made its debut at the third spot on the UK Albums Chart upon release.

He’s scheduled to visit several cities in the UK next month, including Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton, and Newcastle, where he will perform.

The representative for the musician confirmed to the Press Association news agency that the UK shows scheduled from November 20th onwards remain as originally planned.

Lately, numerous followers have expressed their backing on Zayn’s social media platforms, stating they understand and support his decision to delay the tour due to his unexpected sorrow.

Recently, Zayn Malik took the stage at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, an event that signified his initial major tour following his departure from One Direction.

After the unexpected passing of Liam, Zayn confessed that he had been speaking aloud to his late bandmate, sharing insights about their complex relationship in a heartfelt tribute.

In an honest message, he acknowledged their ups and downs, saying the pair had ‘butted heads’, but thanked Payne for ‘helping him through his darkest times’ and poignantly said he’d hoped for a chance to rebuild their bond in the future.

Zayn, the former member of One Direction who left in 2015 due to stress and expressed a desire for a regular life at age 22, has had a tumultuous friendship with Liam. In 2022, Liam referred to his bandmate as a “jerk” during an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast.

In the same interview, he also spoke about a physical altercation where a bandmate threw him against a wall, and recently Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry alleged that it was Zayn.

On Thursday night, Zayn posted on Instagram saying: “Liam, I’ve been talking aloud to you, wishing you could hear me. It strikes me that we could have had so many more talks throughout our lives.

‘I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life.

As a 17-year-old, when I felt homesick, you were always there to offer encouragement and a friendly grin, reminding me of our friendship and letting me know that I was cherished.

Despite being younger, you consistently displayed a greater sense of wisdom compared to me. You were bold, outspoken, and unafraid to challenge others when you believed they were mistaken.

‘Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it.’

In 2015, Zayn made headlines for leaving the group, and in 2016, when asked about his rapport with his ex-bandmates, he expressed that he had a particularly close bond with Liam.

‘Liam remains one of my closest friends, as we often chat on the phone. He recently praised my latest song, which made me feel great. In return, I acknowledged his recent Brit Award win.’

On Wednesday at 5pm local time (9pm UK time), Liam fell 45 feet from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina’s capital, and later, medical professionals declared him deceased.

According to an autopsy report, the musician passed away due to extensive injuries and excessive bleeding, both internally and externally.

Argentina’s Leading Criminal and Penitentiary Prosecutor’s Office Number 16 reported that they are examining the case as an ‘unresolved death’ after receiving the report.
