Zayn Malik CANCELS Newcastle show at the last minute leaving fans devastated as he apologises for letting concert-goers down
As a dedicated fan of One Direction, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of empathy for Zayn Malik, who has been through an emotional rollercoaster lately. His recent tribute to his late bandmate Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in October, speaks volumes about their deep bond and the impact each member had on one another during their meteoric rise to stardom.
Zayn Malik cancelled a show on Tuesday night at the last minute leaving his fans disappointed.
Previously a member of One Direction, now aged 31, was scheduled to perform at Newcastle City Hall, as part of his Stairway to the Sky UK concert series.
Prior to the performance, an announcement over the loudspeaker informed everyone that the show had been cancelled, leaving fans stunned.
The message read: ‘We’re sorry for the short notice, but he had hoped he could still go ahead with the performance.’ (This version conveys the same meaning in simpler and easier-to-understand language.)
However, I regret to inform you that this arrangement can no longer be made. If you need to reschedule or request a refund, kindly reach out to your place of purchase. For those being picked up by parents or guardians, kindly remain in the auditorium and wait for pick-up.
On Tuesday evening, Zayn posted on his Stories, saying: “I apologize for this, but my voice is completely absent tonight, and without it, there can be no performance.
I deeply regret having to disappoint you so suddenly… I clung to optimism right up until the end. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that a good night’s sleep will help me recover and I can perform again tomorrow.
‘My deepest apologies Newcastle. Love you all.’
On his “Stairway to the Sky” concert tour, audiences have had the opportunity to watch him perform in various cities, including London, Manchester, Leeds, and Wolverhampton.
He is due to wrap up in Edinburgh in just a number of days.
Previous Friday, during their tour, Zayn Malik honored Liam Payne, his ex-bandmate from One Direction, in Wolverhampton, where Liam hails from, by expressing his hope that Liam, who recently passed away, might be able to witness his performance on stage.
He kicked off his Stairway To The Sky tour in Leeds’s O2 Academy last week, with an on-stage blue screen message which read: ‘Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro’ with a pink heart.
Instead, he hasn’t explicitly addressed the topic of Payne, who passed away at 31 in Argentina recently, throughout his current tour.
Based on social media clips, Malik reportedly informed the University of Wolverhampton’s venue The Halls: ‘Every night at the end of the show, I’ve been doing something special, and it’s been dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Farewell.’
‘I hope you’re seeing this, we’re in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you, Liam.’
As a devoted fan, I adjusted my tour schedule for the initial performances in Edinburgh because I chose to honor Payne’s funeral, an event that was graced by my fellow One Direction comrades, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
On October 16, Payne succumbed to severe injuries sustained from a fall off a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, which resulted in both internal and external bleeding.
In 2015, he chose to depart from One Direction, prior to the band deciding on an extended break in 2016. Each member then embarked on individual solo paths.
After Payne passed away, Malik expressed that he was unable to express gratitude towards his bandmate for standing by him during some of the toughest moments in his life.
He said, “When you departed, I lost a brother. If only I could have one more hug from you and bid you farewell properly, expressing my love and deep respect for you. This is what I long for.
1) “I’ll keep every moment we shared close to my heart for eternity.
I wish for your well-being, wherever you currently find yourself. May you be in harmony, aware of the love surrounding you. Sending my affection, my friend.
On October 16, Liam tragically passed away following a fall from a third-story balcony at an Argentine hotel. This past month, his One Direction bandmates gathered together in public for the first time in nine years to mourn and pay their respects at Liam’s funeral.
Originally bandmates Harry Styles (aged 30), Niall Horan (aged 31), Louis Tomlinson (aged 32), and Zayn individually attended the church for an emotional farewell ceremony.
Harry donned black attire, arrived at the funeral in a BMW, and it was Niall who came along with his girlfriend, Amelia Woolley. Shortly following Louis, Zayn Malik made his appearance.
