Zak Starkey teams up with Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s sons as they work on ‘The Beatles kids’ after he was sacked from The Who again
Zak Starkey is collaborating with the sons of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, collectively known as “The Beatles offspring,” following his dismissal once more from The Who, to produce a project they are calling “The Beatles kids.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Last month, I found myself in an unexpected situation, similar to Zak Starkey, son of the legendary Ringo Starr. After a tumultuous turn of events within our band, I was let go, only to be rehired shortly after. This rollercoaster ride took place just one month ago.
He’s let it be known that he’s currently creating fresh tunes together with Sean Lennon and James McCartney, and they’ve already joined forces to write one track.
In a recent conversation, I confessed that I had long steered clear of this concept, largely due to my apprehensions about being perceived unfavorably for eternity.
In my perspective, initially, the concept seemed rather far-fetched. However, over the past decade, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know James closely, and for the last five years, Sean has been a significant part of my life as well. We’ve grown to be more than just acquaintances; we’re great friends now.
“I find their music exceptional, especially the song titled ‘Rip Off.’ During our frequent interactions, I invited them to add their touch to it.

Zak commented, “We had apprehensions about a potential lack of compatibility, but there was an abundance, and it resonated wonderfully. James’ strong vocals almost sent me flying from my chair.
Sean, age 48, is the second-born child of the renowned figure John, whereas James, aged 47, is Paul McCartney’s sole son and youngest child, whom he had with his former spouse Linda Eastman.
In May, Pete Townshend, the guitarist from The Who, used Instagram to share the news that Zak, who joined as drummer in 1996, is no longer a member of the band.
However, Zak promptly asserted on his personal social media platforms that his exit wasn’t an amicable agreement, but rather, he was dismissed from the band.
I can hardly contain my excitement as I write this, knowing that we’re only a few months away from the iconic band’s farewell tour across North America! And
‘After numerous years of exceptional drumming by Zak, it’s now time for something different. This is a significant moment. Zak has plenty of fresh projects ahead, and I wish him all the success in his new endeavors.’
In a follow-up post, Pete and Roger Daltrey mentioned that The Who are preparing for retirement, while Zak is twenty years younger and boasts a promising future with his new group and various intriguing endeavors.
He should pour all his efforts into ensuring its success. May he have countless blessings of good fortune.

In their statement, they mentioned that Scott Devours, who is recognized by Who fans from Roger’s solo performances, will take over the spot previously held by Zak. They expressed their hope that all their supporters would warmly welcome him. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey were also mentioned in the statement.
The statement revealed that Scott Devours, a familiar face to Who fans due to his work with Roger during solo concerts, will step into the role previously occupied by Zak. They expressed their optimism that everyone would embrace him. The musicians Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey were also mentioned in the statement.
Two weeks following my reinstatement, I was let go, and was requested to issue a statement claiming that I left The Who to focus on my other musical ventures. This would have been untrue.
I’m deeply committed to The Who, and I would never have left them. Making such a statement about quitting The Who would have been disappointing to the numerous incredible individuals who supported me during the tumultuous weeks when I was going back and forth like a yo-yo.” (Yo-yo reference is optional, but it adds a bit of color to the sentence.)
As a committed enthusiast, I’d like to shed some light on the fact that, indeed, I do engage in other projects. My involvement with The Who has been characterized by periods of sporadic or minimal touring, with exceptions being our extensive tours in 2000 and 2006/7.
Zak went on to share details about his past projects, mentioning that while he’s been putting out singles, he hasn’t toured because band members have been too occupied. However, these activities have never caused any issues with The Who, as they’ve always managed to work around it smoothly.
‘The lie is or would have been that I quit The Who- I didn’t. I love the who and everyone in it.’
Once more, Zak updated his Instagram, revealing that his account of the situation was once more in disagreement following a conversation with renowned musician and The Who’s vocalist and guitarist, Roger.
Zak shared that Roger informed him he wasn’t let go but chose to step down to focus on personal endeavors.

LOUDNESS & CONFUSION!!! I had an excellent phone conversation with Roger towards the end of last week, but it left us both quite perplexed!!!
Rog clarified to me that I wasn’t let go from the team, but rather given an opportunity to work on my personal endeavors. I shared with him that over the past two months, I’ve been immersed in my Jamaican studio finalizing these projects. My band, Mantra Of The Cosmos, will be releasing a single at the beginning of June and following its typical run (around 5-6 weeks), I’ll be free to commit myself fully for an extended period ahead.
Rog exclaimed, “Oh!”, and our conversation seemed to naturally come to an end – Remaining on friendly terms and continuing to be the best of friends, just as we’ve always been.
‘Gotta love these guys. As my mum used to say “The mind boggles!!!” XXX.’
A while afterward, it was announced that The Who would be concluding their touring career, which spans over six decades, with a series of concerts in the United States towards the end of this year.
At a London gathering with journalists, the iconic rock group disclosed that they would be embarking on a final tour, beginning in July.
