Zack Snyder’s Flashpoint Batman Actor Revealed: Fans Are Going Wild!

After many years since Zack Snyder’s tenure in the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) ended, the actor whom Snyder, the director of Man of Steel, had long envisioned for the role of Flashpoint Batman has been officially confirmed. From 2013 to 2017, Snyder oversaw DC Comics’ cinematic universe. Although he didn’t get to fully execute his vision due to being replaced in 2017’s Justice League and subsequently leaving the franchise, Snyder has continued to share his detailed plans for the future of DC, including adapting the renowned Flashpoint DC Comics storyline.

In a noteworthy chat, it appears the actor destined for Batman in Zack Snyder’s planned Flashpoint film was disclosed, and I can hardly imagine a more fitting selection. The Flashpoint movie was merely one of the countless DC Comics tales that Snyder aimed to explore within his DCEU, but unfortunately, the superhero realm was rebooted under the watch of James Gunn and Peter Safran instead.

In a conversation with Den of Geek, Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that negotiations took place for him to portray Zack Snyder’s version of Batman in the Flashpoint movie, but this plan was altered following the reboot of the DC Extended Universe.

Discussing their initial encounter, Morgan recounted the experience of working alongside Lauren Cohen when they portrayed Thomas and Martha Wayne alongside each other in Zack Snyder’s film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

I believe this topic has been discussed before, but I haven’t researched it myself. Was it Zack Snyder’s idea to cast you both as Thomas and Martha Wayne as a sort of joke, or was it your suggestion at that point in time?

Morgan: “That was the first time we’d ever met or worked together, so this is well before.

Cohen: “Oh my gosh, I just forgot that. Just literally forgot that.”

At one point, he was supposed to portray the Flashpoint version of Batman on a larger scale within the DCEU, but those plans didn’t materialize as intended,” Morgan elaborated.

I believe Zack would have starred in more movies, and at one point, Flashpoint Batman might have featured these two characters prominently. Sadly, we missed that opportunity. However, it was the initial encounter between Lauren and me. I vividly recall our first meeting; she had just begun ‘The Walking Dead’, and as a fan myself, I was thrilled.

He playfully pointed out that it was quite fortunate, or perhaps coincidental, that the director of the “Man of Steel” movie had introduced him and Cohen prior to their co-starring roles in “The Walking Dead.

I kept asking her lots of questions about ‘The Walking Dead’. To be honest, I believe it was Zack who brought us together. I can’t really explain why or how, except perhaps he had some idea of what might transpire in the future. If you want to know more about this, maybe you should ask Scott M. Gimple since he’s the one who cast us as opposites.

Morgan has previously mentioned his interest in portraying a different-universe Batman within the major film series. In 2022, he jokingly told fans that Michael Keaton “stepped in and snatched my role” when he was cast as Batman in The Flash.

In contrast to initial expectations, Zack Snyder’s Flashpoint movie didn’t get released, but there are speculations that certain aspects from the project might have been incorporated into the 2023 Flash film featuring Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton.

This summer, instead of more tales as envisioned by Snyder in the connected DC Universe, there will be a reboot of the DCU with the debut of James Gunn’s eagerly anticipated Superman film.

What Did We Know About The DCEU Flashpoint Movie?

Despite Zack Snyder’s Flashpoint never making it to the big screen, it wasn’t entirely familiar territory for enthusiasts, as they still had some level of curiosity and interest in the project.

The film could be seen as wrapping up the initial phase of DC storytelling under Snyder’s leadership, representing one of the largest multiversal tales for the Blue Brand. In essence, it established the DC Multiverse and altered the narrative flow permanently.

It was speculated that the Flashpoint movie would center around Reverse Flash as its main antagonist, with characters such as Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, and Ezra Miller’s Flash joining forces with heroes from various realities (including Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s version of Batman) to battle the wicked speedster.

Furthermore, it is said that the “Flash” movie was intended to be a crucial foundation for the upcoming event film. This movie was expected to conclude with a “restart of the universe and introduction of a fresh cast.

In the event that the original cast of the Snyder DC Extended Universe trilogy were replaced, an actor such as Morgan could potentially take over the superhero roles in future installments of the series.

Earlier, Morgan mentioned that starring in the “Flashpoint” film would have been a “great joy,” however, due to the upcoming DC Universe reboot, fans will unfortunately not get the opportunity to witness it.
