Zack Snyder To Direct Upcoming UFC Film ‘Brawler’

Zack Snyder is venturing into a new project, moving away from his usual thriller-action genre. In collaboration with Dana White and His Excellency Turki Alashikh, who is both the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia and the owner of boxing magazine ‘The Ring’, Snyder has been officially assigned to direct the upcoming film titled ‘Brawler’.

Turki Alalshikh, set to collaborate with Zack Snyder on the upcoming movie centering around a Los Angeles man’s journey in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, expressed his admiration for Snyder in a statement. “For years, I’ve been a fan of Zack’s work,” Alalshikh said. “His distinctive style—ranging from his powerful action scenes to his stunning visuals and deeply emotional storytelling—combined with his ability to humanize complex characters makes him stand out. I can’t imagine a more suitable partner for bringing the UFC to the big screen.” The CEO of UFC, Dana White, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Alalshikh and Snyder share a vision to create a film about the UFC. They are both deeply invested in this project, aiming to give fans an insight into what it takes to become a UFC champion. This is an incredibly ambitious project, and I eagerly anticipate seeing it take shape.

Besides Snyder, his wife Deborah Snyder, along with Wesley Coller, will also co-produce under their production company Stone Quarry. Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad have been appointed as co-writers for the movie. In a statement, Snyder expressed, “Every great fighter has a tale of how they reached that point. UFC is the top combat sports organization, and I’m proud to collaborate with them to bring this remarkable story to life.” At present, Snyder is engaged in an unnamed Netflix project centered around the Los Angeles Police Department. He has previously directed three films for the streaming service, including “Army of the Dead” and “Rebel Moon”. Keep an eye out for further updates as the project progresses.
