Zachary Levi’s New Historical Movie With 98% Audience RT Score Is Releasing On Prime Video This Month

Okay, so I’m really excited – Zachary Levi’s historical drama, Sarah’s Oil, which everyone’s been talking about, is finally hitting Prime Video this month! I’ve been waiting for this one.

The movie, a biographical drama, came out in theaters in November 2025. While most critics and viewers liked it, it didn’t do well financially, earning only $12 million worldwide despite costing $18 million to make.

After a four-month wait, Sarah’s Oil will be available to stream on Prime Video starting April 15th. It’s just one of several new titles coming to the service this month – Crime 101 arrives on April 1st, followed by Weapons on April 5th, the fifth season of The Boys on April 8th, Balls Up also on the 15th, and the first season of American Gladiators on April 17th.

Several new movies are scheduled for release this month: Vengeance and The Running Man will be available on the 17th, Kevin on the 20th, The Conjuring: Last Rites on the 21st, and The House of Spirits on the 29th.

What Is Sarah’s Oil About?

“Sarah’s Oil” tells the amazing true story of Sarah Rector, a young African American girl born in Oklahoma in the early 1900s. She unexpectedly inherited land that turned out to be rich in oil. As unscrupulous oilmen tried to take advantage of her, Sarah fought to keep control of her wealth and ultimately became one of the first African American female millionaires—all before the age of eleven.

Naya Desir-Johnson stars as Sarah Rector in a cast that also features Zachary Levi, Sonequa Martin-Green, Garret Dillahunt, Kenric Green, Mel Rodriguez, Ryan O’Quinn, Adyan Copes, Bridget Regan, Stelio Savante, Marco Fuller, and Jonathan Lipnicki.

Cyrus Nowrasteh directed Sarah’s Oil, a film based on a screenplay by Betsy Giffen and himself. The story was inspired by Tonya Bolden’s 2014 book, Searching for Sarah Rector: The Richest Black Girl in America.

How Was Sarah’s Oil Recieved?

Though it didn’t make a big splash in theaters, Sarah’s Oil was well-received by critics, earning an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers praised the film as a touching tribute to Sarah Rector, highlighting her strength and perseverance, and offering a heartwarming and inspiring story for the whole family.

Viewers overwhelmingly love Sarah’s Oil, giving it a 98% approval rating. Now, the film is coming to Prime Video later this month, which will allow many more people to watch it on demand.
