Zach Gilford Shockingly Divorces Wife After 12 Years!

Zach Gilford and his long-time spouse, Kiele Sanchez, have surprisingly parted ways following 12 years of marital union and the birth of their two beautiful children.

A few months back, the actor from Criminal Minds, aged 43, openly shared some personal health news with his followers. More recently, this same individual was seen working alongside Sanchez, who is 47 years old, on the crime drama series. On this show, they portrayed a romantic couple.

Gilford filed for divorce from Kiele on Friday, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

He mentioned ‘unresolvable disagreements’ as the cause for their parting, though no specific date of their separation was provided; the actor simply labeled it as ‘To Be Determined.’

Zach is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their kids Zeppelin, seven, and Revel, four.

In addition to being recognized from his role in Friday Night Lights, the star may also be required, according to the documents, to provide spousal support to Kiele.

Gilford and Sanchez got married in December 2012, with their close friend and previous co-star Jesse Plemons playing a significant role by performing at their heartfelt wedding ceremony.

During an earlier interview with ABC, their wedding photographer, Jonas Peterson, reminisced about the special day and commented, “Wow, Plemons sure knows how to strum a guitar!

1. “He belongs to a group named Cowboy and Indian, and I must say, they’re exceptionally talented – extremely impressive! [Gilford and Sanchez] come across as the most ordinary individuals you could ever meet.”

2. “He’s in this band called Cowboy and Indian, and lemme tell ya, they’re really something – super impressive! [Gilford and Sanchez] seem like the most down-to-earth people you could ever meet.”

Peterson also added, ‘They are the most in-love couple you’ll ever see. It’s really amazing. 

Zach expressed, “This person is the love of my life, and I’d like you to document our connection.” And indeed, their interactions reflect this sentiment. Witnessing their bond in action was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Back in 2010, the separated pair initially crossed paths while filming an ABC pilot for The Matadors, a show that unfortunately failed to secure a spot on the airwaves.

Previously, the actor who played in Midnight Mass has shared insights about his bond with Kiele following the birth of their first child through a surrogate.

He shared with Us Weekly back in 2018 that his wife is unlike anyone he’s encountered throughout his life. He believes that when people get to know her, they instantly develop feelings of affection for her.

‘She has shown me the art of loving, and when I observe her with that child, it’s clear as day she’s like a protective motherly lioness. There’s an undeniable sense of security around this little one, something truly awe-inspiring.’

Towards the end of last year, Zach finished shooting the third season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, in which he plays a renowned serial killer character named Elias Voit.

In the beginning, he was scheduled to appear only in the first season, but later on, he ended up starring not just in the first, but also in the second season as well.

Gilford also worked alongside Kiele on the series – with the pair playing the role of a couple. 

In regards to filming tense scenes together, Zach explained to Us Weekly that it wasn’t easy to do.

It turns out to be more challenging. This is difficult due to the distressing fact that I can’t force my wife to do something under threat, and these particular scenes are quite disturbing.

He commented, “To be honest, the entire sequence of events feels incredibly uncomfortable to me. However, I can only express my own feelings. Kiele is more than capable of voicing her own thoughts, but collaborating on portraying those bleak scenes was unsettling for me.

Later on, Gilford clarified that neither he nor Kiele had originated the idea for her to join the cast of Criminal Minds.

Funny you should mention it,” she said, “I’ve just received a call offering me the role of your wife on Criminal Minds.

Later, showrunner Erica Messer explained to me, “We aimed to avoid putting any undue stress on you and Kiele. Our goal was simply to maintain a high level of professionalism.” This is what he later remembered.

The new installment of the crime drama will start airing on May 8, exclusively on Paramount+. Each week, a fresh episode will be added, amounting to a total of ten episodes.

In an interview with Parade recently, Messer shared insights about the upcoming season, focusing particularly on the character of Elias Voit portrayed by Gilford.

Since Voit is available, we plan to continue pursuing him further. However, this week, we anticipate revealing more fulfilling suspects,” she explained.

In other words, by resolving the storyline in this current episode, the team will finally find closure, unlike last season when Gold Star was introduced, showed his potential for terrible acts, and wasn’t stopped until Jill Gideon intervened in Episode 8.

Besides his role on [the show], Zach has made a name for himself by appearing in various TV series, including L.A.’s Finest, Midnight Mass (from 2021), and the upcoming Fall Of The House Of Usher (set to air in 2023).

In the TV series Friday Night Lights, which was on air from 2006 to 2011, the actor took on the role of Matt Saracen.

Last December, as reported by Deadline, it was announced that the popular series would make a comeback on Peacock, after a fierce competition for the rights between various streaming platforms.

The television show that originally featured Gilford, Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Tyler Kitsch, Jesse Plemons, Aimee Teegarden, Gaius Charles, and Minka Kelly will be remade by Universal Television.

Peter Berg, known for directing the original series when it premiered, is also expected to play a role in the upcoming reboot that’s currently being worked on.

The upcoming series is set in a town struggling to recover from a devastating hurricane. A motley crew of high school football players and their temporary coach, who are dealing with their own damage, aim for the Texas High School State Championship. In doing so, they serve as a source of hope for their community.
