YouTube to demonetize creators who post AI content along with non-original content

YouTube is tightening its rules against automated and duplicated content. Anyone found producing this type of content will have their monetization privileges revoked on the platform.

YouTube is taking action against content creators who rely excessively on artificial intelligence or re-posts of others’ videos. Today, the well-known video sharing site declared they will stop monetizing creators whose videos predominantly consist of re-posted content from other creators.

This action represents a significant shift for the platform, since numerous users were earning profits by merely duplicating others’ content and uploading it onto their personal channels under the guise of original creation.

YouTube users who create AI content will no longer get paid

On YouTube, there are numerous methods for generating unoriginal content, as some “content creators” have discovered they can either use AI or merely re-post someone else’s video. However, YouTube is now taking steps to ensure that those who opt for this less-than-creative approach will ultimately earn no revenue from their efforts.

This implies that any content on the site that has been previously used, generated by AI, lacking effort, or directly copied will no longer generate income, thereby benefiting the diligent creators who put in genuine effort on their video content.

Previously, it was a common practice on TikTok for creators to upload other people’s videos onto their own pages, earning substantial profits, particularly when the videos exceeded a minute in length.

Starting from July 15, 2025, YouTube is implementing a new policy that prohibits AI-generated videos and duplicated content. If you consistently produce your unique content, this update should not impact you, allowing you to carry on creating in your current style.
