Popular YouTube creator Ms. Rachel made a noteworthy appearance at the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards in New York City on Monday, where she delivered a powerful message.
The 43-year-old star turned heads in a beautiful gown decorated with the hopes and dreams of Sudanese children. This choice highlighted her commitment to supporting young people in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The old-fashioned dress had a black halter top and a full, pink silk skirt covered in detailed embroidery of words. She also carried a paper filled with photos and stories of children, which were incorporated into the dress’s design.
Rachel Griffin-Accurso and her husband, Aron Accurso, walked the red carpet together. Aron looked sharp in a tuxedo as he accompanied his wife.
She received nominations at the ceremony for two awards: Outstanding Preschool, Children’s or Family Viewing Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Preschool or Children’s Series.
This striking fashion choice follows her previous appearance at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, where she wore a dress decorated with artwork made by children in Gaza.
Ms. Rachel shared on Instagram that she was proud to bring photos and stories of 11 children from Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with her to the Children’s Emmys.
Their inspiring words resonated deeply with me, and I shared them with everyone, emphasizing the importance of offering support in any way we can. To the children: we acknowledge you, we cherish you, we love you, and we are here for you.
Don’t forget to support @sudanese_american_physicians and @thefutureofcongo! While I didn’t win an Emmy, it’s okay – the show was really uplifting and full of people dedicated to helping children, and I’m happy for all the winners. Check out @theemmys.tv for more.
I’m so thankful to @risakostis for finding this amazing vintage dress, and lots of other goodies I’ll be sharing soon! I’m also incredibly grateful for the team who put so much heart and care into everything tonight.
Ms. Rachel is a strong advocate for children affected by war, and her activism regarding Gaza has often been featured in the news.
In July, she publicly called out celebrities for remaining silent about the situation in Gaza. She stated that speaking up against the starvation of people in Gaza wouldn’t harm their careers, and that their silence – a deliberate choice – would be remembered and judged accordingly.
After Rachel publicly shared a sweet message about her husband and business partner, giving a glimpse into their personal life, the couple enjoyed a night out together.
Last September, the teacher shared a heartfelt message with her husband, whom she married in 2016. She highlighted his wonderful qualities and all the effort he dedicates to their popular parenting channel.
Rachel and Aron, a Broadway producer, created their educational channel in 2019. They were motivated by their own son’s speech delay at age eight and the difficulty they had finding helpful online resources.
In a touching post about Mr. Aron, whom she first met in 2010 at a Unitarian Universalist gathering, Ms. Rachel wrote, ‘I wouldn’t be who I am today without Mr. Aron…’
A lot of people assume he just handles the music and songwriting, but we’re true partners in all aspects of the show – he’s essential to everything I do as Ms. Rachel.
Aron’s talent extends to everything he does – writing, editing, creating. I especially remember when I was teaching music, he created a fantastic backing track for my students with the same dedication and high quality he brings to his main work.
He shares my desire to make a positive impact on the world, even in small ways. Plus, we love each other very much!
He goes by Herbie, Bean, and Frankie too – and he’s the best dad! Having grown up without a father figure myself, it’s incredibly heartwarming to watch my children have a dad who is always there for them and eager to be involved in everything they do. Way to go, Mr. Aron!
The celebrity, easily recognized by her signature style of overalls, a pink tee, and a headband, looked lovingly at her husband while sharing the photo’s caption.
In April, Rachel and her partner announced the birth of their second child, a daughter named Susannah. They used a surrogate mother because of medical challenges that prevented Rachel from carrying the baby herself. She shared the news on Instagram.
The news followed her earlier statement that personal family problems caused her to be away from the platform for two months.
Ms. Rachel, also known online as Ms Rachel, has become incredibly popular thanks to the engaging songs she creates with Mr. Aron.
She creates videos on her Songs For Littles YouTube channel to help young children improve their pronunciation and language abilities.
The channel gained popularity after their son, Thomas, was diagnosed with a speech delay. The creator told NBC News that Thomas didn’t say his first word – ‘mama’ – until he was nearly three years old, and she’d been eagerly waiting to hear him speak for a long time.
As parents, we naturally want to support our children, and it’s understandable to feel helpless when they experience a speech delay. I share a lot of what I’ve learned because I wish I’d known these things when my own son was learning to talk.
