On Channel 4’s streaming platform, you can now find a fresh crime-focused TV show, perfect for an engaging weekend marathon viewing.
Last year, the series titled “Pale Mountains” was broadcasted in Italy with the name “Brennero,” a nod to its storyline being based in the town of Bolzano, which lies near the Italian-Austrian border.
As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but appreciate how intricately woven together the environment, dialogue, traditions, and self-perception of characters are in this captivating series. It’s the essence that gives it its unique strength.
A murder points to the return of an infamous serial killer, one that only attacks German-speakers.
In this adaptation, the young detective Eva Kofler gets assigned to a new case. However, her seniors opt for a partnership between her and Italian detective Paolo Costa.

Apart from their contrasting temperaments – his fiery and boisterous personality versus her tranquil self-discipline – it’s important to note that this case holds a deeply personal significance for him. Tragically, he lost not only a limb but also his girlfriend while chasing the culprit responsible.
Could it be possible for them to set aside their disputes and collaborate in order to apprehend the murderer, preventing further casualties?

Initially, the series was broadcast over eight episodes, divided into four two-episode arcs. However, when it’s available on Channel 4, it’s presented as four extended episodes, similar in length to a movie.
The entire series totals approximately 6 hours and 40 minutes, and considering commercial breaks, it might run even longer. This means there’s quite a bit of viewing material if you’re planning a marathon session this weekend.
This service offers an ad-free option called Channel 4+ which costs £3.99 per month or £39.99 annually. However, please keep in mind that certain content, such as international dramas found in the Walter Presents section, might still contain advertisements.
Pale Mountains is available to stream on Channel 4 now.
The first printed issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, “British Comedy Legends,” is available! You can purchase it from your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
