When your order is shipped, people who bought you a gift might be able to see your address in delivery notifications and tracking details.
Amazon is updating its Lists feature, and the change will allow more people to see the shipping addresses associated with those lists. Here’s what you need to know, along with a simple guide on how to keep your Amazon wishlists private.
Amazon wishlist update affects address visibility
Amazon is changing how gifts from shared lists are purchased. Starting March 25, 2026, anyone with access to a shared Amazon list will be able to buy items from third-party sellers on that list. To complete these purchases, Amazon will share the list owner’s shipping address with the sellers.
So, I just learned that when someone buys me a gift from my Amazon wishlist or a shared list, Amazon has to share my shipping address with the seller and whoever’s delivering it so they can actually get it to me. Apparently, my address might even show up on delivery updates or tracking info the gift-giver can see – which is a little weird, but makes sense if they need to know it’s on its way!
Amazon suggests that if you share your lists publicly, you should use a non-home address or a P.O. Box to protect your privacy.
Amazon gift address update concerns Twitch streamers, VTubers, and more
The upcoming change has caused worry among social media users. Some pointed out that it will eliminate a current privacy feature, exposing the addresses of those who send gifts. Others are suggesting Twitch streamers and VTubers begin using a P.O. Box to protect themselves from potential doxxing and harassment.
How to make your Amazon wishlist private

- Check whether each list is labeled Private or Shared.
- If a list is Shared, click on it.
- Click on the three dots menu.

You can control who sees your Amazon lists by going to your Lists page. Check to see if your lists are marked as “Shared” or “Private.” If a list is shared, click on it, then click the three dots and choose “Manage List.” From there, go to the “Privacy” section and change the setting to “Private.” Don’t forget to click “Save Changes.”
