Your adorable first look at Endeavour star Roger Allam and Ian McKellen’s drama with stacked cast

The first images have been released for the new drama, Frank and Percy, starring Roger Allam (known for Endeavour) and Sir Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings). The photos show the two actors as men who become friends after meeting while walking their dogs.

The new film is adapted from the West End play of the same name, written by Ben Weatherill. It was directed by Sean Mathias and based on a screenplay by Martin Sherman.

Okay, so I heard that Sir Ian McKellen and Jim Broadbent are going to be Percy and Frank again for the movie! They actually played those same roles on stage in London last year, and the director who did that stage version is directing the movie too, which is awesome.

The story centers around two elderly men who strike up a friendship after meeting while walking their dogs in Hampstead Heath. Their chats start with simple topics like the weather and their aches and pains, but soon grow into a deeper connection – and maybe even a romance.

“Frank and Percy” is a charming and moving story about finding the bravery to fall in love, no matter how old you are.

The first image shows Allam and McKellen smiling at each other while sitting on a bench in Hampstead Heath. Their dogs are at their feet. McKellen is also an executive producer on the project.

Along with a newly released still from the movie, more actors have been confirmed to join the cast, adding a lot of star power to the film.

The cast features well-known actors including Rob Brydon from Gavin and Stacey, Felicity Kendal of The Good Life, Dame Sheila Hancock who starred in The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, and Peter Davison from All Creatures Great and Small.

The cast also includes new additions Gary Wilmot, Nitin Ganatra, Peter Straker, Amari Bacchus, Hugh Skinner, and Wayne Sleep.

This new group of actors will be joining a cast that already includes Sir Stephen Fry, Jessica Gunning, Dame Joanna Lumley, Dame Siân Phillips, Sir Derek Jacobi, and Ncuti Gatwa, known for his role in Doctor Who.

Okay, so as of right now, they haven’t announced a release date for the movie yet, but they are planning to show it in cinemas here in the UK, which is awesome!
