Young Jedi Adventures recap: Yoda’s Mission
As a devoted fan of Star Wars and animated series, I must say that the “Young Jedi Adventures” episode “Yoda’s Mission” was a thrilling rollercoaster ride through the galaxy far, far away. The narrative weaves an intricate tale of camaraderie, bravery, and selflessness, perfectly encapsulating the essence of the Jedi Order.
The “Young Jedi Adventures” episode titled “Yoda’s Mission” begins by showing our beloved young Jedi trainees engaged in a combat with an atypical training robot. Unlike the ones found in the temple on Coruscant, this one requires Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs to outmaneuver it and reach the final platform simultaneously. As they struggle, their fellow Jedi trainees, Master Zia Zanna, Nash Durango (a non-Force user), and his droid RJ-83, encourage them from the sidelines.
Lys has the idea to go over the droid, and she hops on the end platform first. Nubs follows but comes up short, dangling on a rope just beneath. Kai rushes to save his friend, but the training droid disarms him. Kai wants to get his lightsaber. Lys says there’s no time and to leave it to save Nubs.
In this scenario, Kai concludes he’s capable of handling two tasks simultaneously. He employs the Force to raise Nubs and summon his lightsaber towards him. However, unintentionally, he lets go of his friend as time elapses. Consequently, they both fail the test.
Afterwards, Zia brings them all around for their special guest, Master Yoda!
Kai feels mortified that Yoda witnessed the trio’s failure during their training. Yoda advises him that saving lives is more crucial than preserving tools, as new lightsabers can always be acquired.
As a gamer, I’m stoked! Yoda’s got some hot news for us: He’s inviting all the Jedi to this dope fest happening in Kublop Springs, just down the road. We’re gonna show off our moves at this shindig!
Yoda gathers Lys, Kai, Nubs aside for a private conversation. He assigns them an urgent task related to the festival, something vital both for him and the ritual. Once Yoda provides instructions, the younglings along with Nash dash towards his ship, the Crimson Firehawk.
Oh dear! It appears the mischievous pirate, Taborr Val Dorn, is keeping tabs on the younglings. Following their initial confrontation in “The Young Jedi,” Taborr now considers these kids as his rivals. Taborr, accompanied by his droid companion EB-3 and the Gamorrean, Pord, has devised a plan: if the Jedi falter, they could be forced to leave, enabling the pirates to resume their piracy without Jedi hindrance. They plot to snatch whatever the Jedi are pursuing, ensuring the Jedi’s failure in this endeavor.
In the sands of Tenoo’s desert, a group of young ones arrive at a town. One among them purchases a bag of seeds from a local merchant, finding it peculiar. Yet, if this item holds significance for Yoda, they deem it equally important. Hurrying towards Nash’s vessels, they are startled as Nash detects a distress signal nearby. The message is unclear, but they agree that helping someone in peril outweighs Yoda’s current mission. Consequently, they set off on a journey to aid the troubled individuals.
The kids leave the bag of seeds in the ship.
Upon reaching an impasse, our protagonists unearth a note from Taborr, left for them earlier. He had managed to penetrate the Firehawk and seized Yoda’s collection of seeds in the process. The heroes swiftly return to Nash’s vessel!
And they find it completely trashed.
As a dedicated fan, I embark on a mission with my comrades: the Jedi have made the wise decision to locate Taborr while we attend to our damaged ship. With few options available in the desolate landscape, our destination becomes Yarrum Tower – a notorious hub for pirates peddling their ill-gotten goods.
In a situation where Taborr and his team are ridiculed for attempting to peddle worthless seeds, Taborr feels insulted when the vendor refers to him as “endearing.” He storms back to his vessel, unaware that mischievous youngsters have sneaked aboard. They discover the seeds, but Nubs inadvertently knocks over some crates in the process.
Taborr along with his team engage in a confrontation with the Jedi. The battle seesaws until Kai creates an opportunity by discreetly opening the rear door of their vessel. In the ensuing moment, Nubs and Lys make their escape, while Kai continues to fend off the pirate.
All of a sudden, Nash swoops down to grab her companions. In a scenario reminiscent of their initial training session for boarding the ship at the start of the episode, nubs fails to leap aboard. He’s hanging by a rope and in peril! Before Kai could intervene, Taborr snatches his lightsaber away.
In this situation, Kai prioritizes Nubs’ rescue over keeping his lightsaber. Using the Force, he nudges Nubs to safety first and then follows. Meanwhile, Nash departs with her companions unharmed, which infuriates Taborr as the Jedi managed to escape.
The team arrives at the festival’s timing, perfectly on cue. They present Yoda with a sack filled with uncommon sparkle-fire seeds as a symbol of friendship between the Jedi and the galaxy’s inhabitants. As Tenoo’s moons align, Yoda sows these seeds in their radiance. In an instant, the seeds burst into life, transforming into a stunning flower.
A flower that shoots off fireworks!
Afterward, Kai confides in Yoda that he has lost his lightsaber to Taborr. Yoda expresses admiration for Kai and passes on his personal training saber, which Yoda used at the same age, to Kai as a token of encouragement.
Kai ignites his new lightsaber which is where the episode “Yoda’s Mission” ends.
