You’ll never guess the “strangest” prop that Simon Pegg has kept from his movie roles
Actor Simon Pegg, famous for his roles in “Mission: Impossible,” shared an unusual memento he saved from a different major production – it’s quite peculiar and highly detailed!
In the “Mission: Impossible” movie series, Benji Dunn, who started as an IMF tech expert and later became a field agent, is portrayed by the actor. The storyline continues for what appears to be its last installment in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”.
During a Reddit session to publicize the film, Pegg disclosed that among the props he’s retained from his acting career, there’s an item unrelated to the Mission: Impossible series.

“I have Unkar Plutt’s nose from The Force Awakens,” Pegg replied.
Simon Pegg, who is known for playing Shaun in Shaun of the Dead, portrayed the character Unkar Plutt, the scrap metal dealer, in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, released in 2015.
In simpler terms, director JJ Abrams described Unkar Plutt to me as resembling a blobfish, and true to his words, he had an oversized, dome-like head and a large snout, as explained further by Simon Pegg.
I believe he might be a Crolute from Star Wars. While I don’t remember as much about Star Wars as I did when I was younger, at the end of each day, I peeled off his rubber mask, and I still have his nose stored in a small glass case at my home.
As I sat in on the engaging AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, a fellow gamer-turned-zombie-movie enthusiast posed an intriguing question that stirred my curiosity: Will there be any follow-up to the classic zombie comedy masterpiece, Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead, that we both hold dear?
In the Cornetto trilogy by the filmmaker, which includes “Hot Fuzz” and “The World’s End,” “Shaun of the Dead” is the first film. This movie features Simon Pegg in the leading role as Shaun, a salesman who finds himself navigating through a zombie outbreak in North London alongside his close friend Ed (portrayed by Nick Frost).
Regrettably, it appears that Simon Pegg doesn’t see a need for a sequel or a remake, as he expressed his thoughts: “I believe it’s better off untouched.
He stated, “It seems unnecessary to restart it. Some tales conclude after their initial arc. The issue with follow-ups can be that they need to reverse the resolution of the first movie to kick off a new narrative.
As a gamer, I was on a quest to craft an intriguing narrative, much like the thrilling plots in movies such as “Mission: Impossible”, the superhero genre, or even “Star Trek”. However, Simon Pegg clarified that this approach wouldn’t fly for “Shaun of the Dead”. Instead, it required a unique and distinct style to keep the humor and charm intact.
As a gamer, I can say that just like in a well-crafted game, Shaun in “Shaun of the Dead” has a journey that takes him from one place to another. And luckily, I’m satisfied with where his story ultimately leads him.
As a gamer, I sometimes ponder over the pitfalls of creating sequels for films. It can lead to a situation where the sequel might unintentionally tarnish the original experience. When revisiting the original movie, thoughts like “they’re bound to cover this next event” creep in, and the climax or resolution loses its significance.
A year ago, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, it was evident that Pegg had already expressed his thoughts clearly.
Essentially, the rights for that property lie with Universal Studios. So, if they decide to remake it, they certainly have the option to do so. However, if director Edgar Wright and I were involved, we’d likely be quite upset by this decision, but he found it amusing.
He mentioned that the film is “extremely intimate” and going for a remake would be “merely opportunistic and profit-driven.
