According to a statement from the Art Gallery of NSW, the portrait-taking session featuring sisters Antonia and Nicole Kidman occurred in Sydney on Christmas Eve.

‘The painting is a tribute to their mother, Janelle Kidman, who passed away in September 2024.’

She expressed her enthusiasm in the caption about getting a chance to paint the well-known Kidman sisters and seat with them.

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to depict these extraordinary women. The artwork was commissioned by their exceptional mother, Nicole Kidman, who sadly passed away not long ago.

‘It was one of her final wishes to see the portrait of her two daughters together.’

Nicole shared the portrait to her own Instagram page on Sunday, writing simply: ‘For our Mumma.’ 

After Nicole posted a heartfelt vintage photo of her deceased mother, Janelle (who was 84 when she passed away last year), it appeared online.

On Mother’s Day, the star of Big Little Lies shared a photo where she was seen standing before Uluru, with her cherished mother by her side.

In addition, the delightful image captured Nicole’s daughters, Sunday Rose (aged 16) and Faith Margaret (aged 14), who were just toddlers when this photo was originally taken.

Additionally, Nicole posted another picture showing Janelle strolling with two of her granddaughters along a path close to an indigenous spiritual location and well-known tourist attraction.

The Australian star shares Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret with her husband of 18 years Keith Urban.

She also shares, Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Nicole wrote as a caption, ‘My mom and my girls at Uluru bring back wonderful memories… I’m always smiling on Mother’s Day.’
