You Won’t Believe Who Wields Kryptonite in the New Superman Movie—Check Out the Shocking Poster!

In an innovative twist for Superman’s latest marketing campaign by DC Studios, Kryptonite – the legendary green stone from Superman’s destroyed home planet of Krypton – is making its debut on a poster. Known for being the one substance that weakens the Man of Steel, this time around, Kryptonite will appear in a new form when James Gunn’s new Superman hits theaters on July 11.

DC Studios has unveiled an authentic Chinese poster for the movie ‘Superman’, showcasing fresh artwork of the film’s characters and a sneak peek at Kryptonite in this adaptation. The poster showcases some significant characters from the film, such as Superman (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). Unlike tradition, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) does not hold the Kryptonite; instead, it appears to be connected with the villain Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).

Metamorpho has the ability to transform his entire body into various forms made of different elements, sometimes even multiple forms at once. He can even change into substances like Kryptonite, as depicted in this poster where he’s shown with a hand shaped from that green mineral.

In the previews for Superman, it seems that Metamorpho could play a role in exploiting Kryptonite against Superman. Based on what we’ve seen so far, Metamorpho might be held captive, and his shapeshifting abilities could potentially be used against the Man of Steel by the film’s antagonist.

For the first time in a DCU poster, Kryptonite is showcased, but it’s worth mentioning that Superman’s vulnerability, the Kryptonite, has been depicted on posters of previous DC movies. Specifically, the poster for “Superman III” showcases the Kryptonite Ray, and the character posters for “Superman Returns” in 2005 include Lex Luthor holding a Kryptonite crystal.

In the advertising for Superman, the image of Metamorpho holding Kryptonite isn’t a new idea that’s been subtly suggested before. One particular scene from the trailers depicts the shape-shifting antagonist bringing the glowing green stone near a struggling Superman who is imprisoned.

According to the legends established within DC Comics, it is radioactive remnants from Superman’s native planet that have the power to undermine his strength. It seems the antagonists in the movie Superman plan to exploit this weakness to their maximum potential.

In simpler terms, the first movie released in the revamped DC Universe (DCU) under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios is about Superman. This film erases the past of the old DCEU and starts anew with Superman’s story. Unlike a traditional origin story for this DC character, the movie will be set some years after Superman has already become established as the hero.

Will Kryptonite Be A Big Part of Superman?

In the upcoming adventure of Superman, it’s no surprise that Kryptonite, a crucial element in Superman’s story, will have an impact on him. What sets this apart from other DC films is that Metamorpho will be the one to facilitate the use of Kryptonite against the Man of Steel.

In the storyline of Metamorpho, there’s an air of enigma similar to Superman’s, but trailers hint that his adversary might unwillingly employ Kryptonite to weaken Superman. It seems possible that Metamorpho could experience a transformative journey, switching allegiances and aiding Superman instead. This twist might result in Lex Luthor losing his Kryptonite advantage over Superman, compelling him to seek alternative strategies.

In the upcoming movie, Superman won’t lack adversaries as he faces off against a Kaiju, the Engineer, and the enigmatic Ultraman. Fortunately, Superman might have some backup from the Justice League members – Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, and Hawkgirl – who are also ready to join forces.
