The artist, who’s also a skilled musician, has achieved success in the realm of abstract expressionism, both as a painter and a sculptor. Lately, his work has garnered more recognition due to numerous high-profile exhibitions.

In 1977, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2006, he was honored by being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2013, Herb received the highly respected National Medal of Arts from Barack and Michelle Obama.
