2025 may see the latest addition to our series as a surprising blockbuster. With over fifteen years since its predecessor, it holds great promise for becoming the most successful chapter in this enduring saga.
The movie titled “Final Destination” started in 2000, and a sequel to the 2011’s “Final Destination 5” was expected to follow soon after. However, work on the sequel took over a decade, but it seems like all that hard work will be worth it. It’s anticipated that “Final Destination Bloodlines” will earn a significant amount in its opening weekend, with estimates of a three-day opening between $35 million to $40 million, according to reports.
To date, the estimated budget for “Final Destination Bloodlines” hasn’t been publicly disclosed yet, but it’s speculated to be approximately $40 million, similar to the budget of the non-3D installment from 2009, “The Final Destination,” and other movies within this genre.
A domestic opening of around $35 million to $40 million would put the film on a promising trajectory, since it would require earnings over $80 million for it to turn a profit. However, this isn’t an insurmountable hurdle, given that global projections suggest “Final Destination: Bloodlines” could earn approximately $70 million worldwide.
In other words, the initial figures would set a new franchise benchmark for the supernatural horror series, surpassing the biggest launch so far which was “The Final Destination” with a three-day domestic gross of $27.4 million. The franchise has enjoyed considerable success over time, earning a global total of approximately $666.7 million across its initial five movies, and collectively spending around $154 million on production costs.
Final Destination: Bloodlines resurrects the concept of horrifying, everyday deaths, but it also introduces the theme of familial lineage. In this sixth installment, a family is depicted whose grandmother prevented numerous premature deaths. Consequently, the family came into existence, despite logically not having been born.
Final Destination Bloodlines Also Scored a Franchise Record Score
The upcoming horror movie hasn’t been released in theaters yet, but it premieres this Friday, and the initial responses to its supernatural horrors are generating quite a buzz. Like its box office forecasts, the sixth installment seems destined to carve out its own niche as the highest-rated entry, and it’s the sole one with a Certified Fresh rating.

For an entire generation, these movies held a cult following and made significant box office earnings, but they weren’t considered major successes. Just two films received favorable reviews, and surprisingly, neither film garnered positive scores from both audiences and critics. The first movie was appreciated by the audience, while the previous installment was the only one to receive a “fresh” rating from the critics.
The upcoming movie titled “Final Destination Bloodlines” aims to break the mold. It has already garnered an impressive 93% approval from film critics on Rotten Tomatoes and is on track to earn a “Certified Fresh” seal of approval. Since it hasn’t been released in cinemas yet, there are no audience ratings as of now, but this new installment might create a new benchmark when it does.
Final Destination Bloodlines premieres in theaters on May 16.
