You Won’t Believe Kaley Cuoco’s Top 10 Movie Roles Ranked From Worst to Best!

Kaley Cuoco has built an impressive career spanning more than three decades, starting back in 1992. Recognized by many as Penny from the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, she appeared in a staggering 279 episodes of this beloved CBS series. Post-Big Bang, she has graced two successful streaming platforms: Max (where The Flight Attendant was aired) and Peacock (home to Based on a True Story).

Kaley Cuoco has gained recognition not only on television shows such as “8 Simple Rules,” “Harley Quinn,” and “Charmed,” but also in movies where she has demonstrated her bubbly, sometimes frenetic persona that fans adore. While her success is largely attributed to her work on TV, she has also made appearances in films. Here are some of her most memorable roles from her film career.

Blanca Champion

‘Killer Movie’ (2008)

2008 marked a significant leap for Cuoco’s career. She had wrapped up the first season of The Big Bang Theory and was given the role in the slasher film Killer Movie. In this movie, she portrayed Blanca Chapman, an aspiring actress intending to star in a TV show based in a small town where a murder has recently occurred. This film also featured Paul Wesley, who was cast as the director tasked with shooting the show. This was a year prior to Wesley’s stint in The Vampire Diaries and before The Big Bang Theory gained widespread popularity.

In this small town, the characters find themselves chasing after a killer who’s targeting individuals connected to the launch of a new TV show. Interestingly enough, Cuoco stars as the runner in this slasher film, which happens to be her only experience with such roles. It’s an amusing twist if you consider that her character in “Based on a True Story” has an unusual fascination with murder.

Hannah Rinaldi

‘Authors Anonymous’ (2014)

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder over the intriguing concept behind “Authors Anonymous” (2014). Picture me, a member of a circle of aspiring writers, none of whom have tasted the sweet success we all crave. Then, out of nowhere, one of our own, a woman named Hannah, finds her big break. She joins our group seeking a little push to keep going with her writing. But when she gets published and her work is transformed into a movie script, I can’t help but feel a pang of resentment from my fellow writers who were still waiting for their moment in the spotlight.

The movie features Teri Polo, Dennis Farina, Jonathan Bennett, Jonathan Banks, Dylan Walsh, and Chris Klein. It revolves around Hannah, who is struggling with her newfound fame while trying not to lose touch with her friends. She shares a strong on-screen dynamic with Chris Klein’s character, as they work together to help him conquer writer’s block.

Eleanor

‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip’ (2015)

Initially, playing a Chipette might not have been something Kaley Cuoco had considered when she made a mistake, but her portrayal of Eleanor in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Trip proved beneficial for the movie producers. This film earned over $234 million at the box office. It was the fourth installment in the Alvin and the Chipmunks series, and Cuoco stepped into the role previously held by Amy Poehler. Eleanor is the most timid member of the Chipettes, the girl band that performs alongside the Chipmunks.

1. Eleanor harbors feelings for Theodore, who happens to be the smallest member of his group. The character’s voice was given a fresh spin by Cuoco in the scenario where the Chipettes were envisioned as American Idol judges. This movie features an impressive ensemble cast including Christina Applegate, Anna Faris, Uzo Aduba, Jesse McCartney, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Tony Hale, and Jason Lee.

2. Eleanor has a romantic interest in Theodore, who is the smallest of his group. The character’s voice was revitalized by Cuoco when depicting the Chipettes as American Idol judges. This movie boasts an array of well-known actors such as Christina Applegate, Anna Faris, Uzo Aduba, Jesse McCartney, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Tony Hale, and Jason Lee.

7
Sam O’Hare

‘Hop’ (2011)

A movie centered around Easter isn’t typically what film studios aim for, but “Hop” was an exception. Released in 2011, this live-action comedy starred James Marsden as a lazy character who encounters a rabbit named E.B., who claims to be the next Easter Bunny. However, Marsden’s character finds himself helping E.B. escape this destiny because E.B. dreams of becoming a drummer instead.

In this rephrased version, Cuoco portrays Marsden’s character Sam. Notable moments include when she initially encounters E.B. and strives to assist him. This heartwarming family film includes Russell Brand as the voice of E.B., and it garnered a box office revenue of $184M.

6
Justine

‘Why Him?’ (2016)

In a more relaxed and straightforward rewording: The movie “Why Him?” showcases Bryan Cranston as the father, attempting to prevent his daughter, portrayed by Zoey Deutsch, from marrying James Franco’s character, who is a wealthy tech entrepreneur. This unconventional film includes some humorous sequences that explore just how much someone might do in search of acceptance.

As a movie enthusiast, I found myself captivated by Cuoco’s unique performance in this flick. Though she wasn’t physically present on screen, her voice was omnipresent as Franco’s home’s AI system – think of it as Siri living in his house. My character, Justine (the AI voice), played a crucial role throughout the movie, being summoned frequently to clear up confusions. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film resonated strongly with audiences, raking in a whopping $118M at the box office.

5
Anne

‘The Man from Toronto’ (2022)

For the second time she collaborated with Kevin Hart, Cuoco appeared alongside him in the film titled “The Man from Toronto.” In this movie, Hart portrayed Teddy, a man who is mistakenly identified as a top-notch assassin known as “The Man from Toronto.” Instead, Woody Harrelson assumed the role of the actual assassin and developed romantic feelings for Anne, the character played by Cuoco.

In the movie, Lori’s friend Anne, portrayed by Jasmine Mathews, is associated with Teddy. As the story unfolds, Anne, played by Cuoco, develops a bond with Randy, another character known as The Man from Toronto. The on-screen pairing between Cuoco and Harrelson is convincing, and their relationship appears to be evolving organically for viewers to witness.

4
Katy

‘Burning Bodhi’ (2015)

Without a doubt, Burning Bodhi, released in 2015, marks one of Cuoco’s most poignant and intense acting performances. In this film, she portrays Katy. The group of friends, including Katy, learn about the untimely demise of a schoolmate they held dear. This tragic event serves as a catalyst, drawing them closer together and enabling them to confront and resolve their personal conflicts.

As a devoted cinephile, I can say that Cuoco delivers an unrefined, heart-wrenching portrayal of Katy, a woman grappling with the grief of losing a friend, as well as the burden of regret. Her character shares a history with Landon Liboiron’s and their reunion forces them to face their lingering emotions head-on. The film brings together an impressive ensemble cast including Meghann Fahy, Cody Horn, Virginia Madsen, Sasha Pieterse, and Tatanka Means.

3
Emma Brackett

‘Role Play’ (2024)

In one of her most notable film performances so far, Cuoco portrays Emma in “Role Play“. Emma is a complex character who is not just a wife and mother, but also an assassin living undercover. Her husband, played by David Oyelowo, is oblivious to the nature of her job, only aware that it often keeps her away for extended periods. However, as fate would have it, the two worlds of Emma intersect, propelling them both into a perilous journey filled with danger.

In the movie, Cuoco effectively plays both a mother and an assassin. Although the script might not have been exceptional, she demonstrates her ability to excel in action-comedy roles. The action sequences and gunfights are entertaining, and the chemistry between Cuoco and Oyelowo is captivating as they rekindle their love story on screen.

2
Gretchen Palmer

‘The Wedding Ringer’ (2015)

One of her most unforgettable movies featuring Kevin Hart is “The Wedding Ringer,” a 2015 comedy where both of them, along with Josh Gad, starred. In the film, Gad’s character is about to marry Cuoco and needs a best man for his wedding. He decides to hire Hart, whose business specializes in providing wedding-related services for grooms. However, Gad’s character Doug requires not just a best man but also seven groomsmen. They attempt to deceive Gretchen and her family, but eventually, she discovers their scheme.

In this rephrased version: Cuoco delivers a standout performance in what could have been a minor role, making every scene she’s in unforgettable, particularly when she figures out Doug’s situation. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t end well for her character, but there are still some entertaining moments to be had. Additionally, it features a young Alan Ritchson before his starring role in Reacher.

1
Sheila

‘Meet Cute’ (2022)

In 2022, Kaley Cuoco shared the screen with Pete Davidson in the movie titled “Meet Cute.” This film showcases Cuoco’s exceptional talent for portraying characters that are slightly anxious and full of energy. During their date, Sheila, played by Cuoco, appears to be hitting it off with Gary, portrayed by Davidson. However, a twist is revealed when Sheila confesses they have been on this very same date before. It’s disclosed that Sheila possesses a time machine and keeps repeating the same day.

The movie seems to share a similar feel with “Groundhog Day,” and the duo of Cuoco and Davidson is undeniably captivating. They each pour their heart and soul into this science romance comedy. Though there are some somber scenes, the character Sheila is hard to ignore. Cuoco delivers an impressive performance at the helm, convincing viewers that her character is prepared for a fresh start.
