You star Lukas Gage lands next lead movie role
As a gamer with a soft spot for both gaming and movies, I must say this news has me all revved up! With Lukas Gage starring in Full Throttle Mindset alongside Josh Duhamel, it’s like hitting two birds with one stone (or should I say, one controller?). The film’s plot, inspired by a true story, sounds wild and thrilling – just the kind of ride I crave!
I’m beyond excited to share that the talented actor, Lukas Gage who I admire, has been cast in the upcoming comedic thriller “Full Throttle Mindset”. This time, he’ll be sharing the screen with Josh Duhamel! What a fantastic pairing!
Under the guidance of director Patrick Brice, this film draws inspiration from an extraordinary, true-life tale initially reported by journalist Doyle Murphy in the St. Louis Riverfront Times.
Drawing inspiration from Murphy’s piece, “Full Throttle Mindset” delves into the story of Blake Laubinger (Gage), who takes up employment at a Midwestern tanning salon owned by Todd Beckman (Duhamel). It isn’t long before Blake discovers that his new guide’s ventures are actually a mask for a drug operation, and he finds himself thrust into a situation where he is expected to participate (as reported by Deadline).
The film is written by Jake Disch and is set to start filming later this year.
In the upcoming sequel to last year’s horror hit “Smile,” due out soon, Gage reappears, and his character’s story is continued, as hinted at in the film’s trailer. Just as the original film garnered rave reviews, “Smile 2” follows a fresh lead character, popular musician Skye Riley, who finds herself under the influence of a mysterious curse involving smiles.
Last month, I caught a glimpse of the upcoming October release in a trailer, where my character, Skye, found herself cursed. It happened when Lewis, portrayed by Gage, unexpectedly appeared at my doorstep and took his own life right before my eyes, leaving a weight under mine.
Gage is recognized for his performances in Euphoria, The White Lotus season 1, and Fargo season 5. Most recently, he has been seen in the Jake Gyllenhaal-led revamp of the 1989 film Road House. Upcoming projects include the actor’s role in the sci-fi thriller Companion, directed by Drew Hancock.
The film, set to premiere in January 2025 within the U.S., boasts an impressive cast including Sophie Thatcher (known for her role in “Yellowjackets”), Jack Quaid (“The Boys”), Megan Suri (“Never Have I Ever”), Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”) and Rupert Friend (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”).
Full Throttle Mindset doesn’t have a release date yet.
