You need to see the intense trailer for Netflix’s new British thriller with Suranne Jones

Suranne Jones plays the UK Prime Minister in the trailer for the upcoming thriller series Hostage.

Beginning on Netflix on the 21st of August, a political drama written by Matt Charman, who also penned “Bridge of Spies”, will feature Jones in the role of the recently appointed British Prime Minister, Abigail Dalton. (Previously known as Doctor Foster and Gentleman Jack.)

The trailer portrays the character played by the BAFTA TV award-winning actor finding herself in a high-stakes scenario as her husband, Dr. Alex Anderson (performed by Ashley Thomas), gets abducted.

The show additionally includes Julie Delpy, renowned for her role in the Before trilogy, portraying French president Vivienne Toussaint. In this production, her character encounters a dire predicament, as she is threatened with blackmail during her stay in the United Kingdom.

During a visit, the French President is threatened with extortion, while the British Prime Minister’s spouse is taken captive. Confronted by extraordinary decisions, both political figures must navigate through unforeseen challenges.

In a tense competition where their political careers and very lives are at stake, will they be able to collaborate to expose the conspiracy that endangers them both?

In addition to starring in the series, Jones is also serving as an executive producer for the first time in her collaboration with Netflix. Regarding the show, formerly known as “The Choice” and now titled “Hostage,” she expressed that she had long aspired to work with Netflix.

She expressed her excitement in an earlier statement, saying she was delighted to be part of Netflix, particularly in a production she takes great pride in. Last month, fans were given their initial glimpse of the series titled “Hostage“.

For quite some time now, I’ve been yearning to embark on a project that truly resonated with me. We had discussed potential projects before, but for me, it was about discovering the right fit. When I came across “Hostage,” I knew it was the one – collaborating with Matt and being part of this talented, encouraging team was an experience I cherished deeply.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Jones will also appear in an upcoming heist drama on ITV titled “Frauds”. This production will feature Jodie Whittaker, well-known for her roles in “Doctor Who” and “Broadchurch”.

Hostage starts streaming on 21 August.
