The grand Brisbane estate belonging to Michael Josephson, Universal Store’s founder, was sold at auction for an impressive $13 million.

After the successful sale, the entrepreneur and his spouse Melissa found themselves with a substantial gain, as they bought a luxurious five-bedroom, five-bathroom property in Hamilton for $4.3 million back in 2020.

6 kilometers outside the central business district, just a few streets away from the Brisbane River, this opulent vintage establishment blends old-world elegance with contemporary luxury.

For five years after purchasing their two-story house, the Josephsons invested significantly in remodeling, particularly updating the previously outdated kitchen.

2020 sale photos online reveal the original space as a squarish kitchen, reminiscent of the ’80s aesthetic.

The recently renovated kitchen boasts marble accents, such as a breakfast bar with a stone countertop and a spacious oven, along with a connected dining space.

Notable features encompass soaring ceilings adorned with visible wooden rafters and vintage-style lighting fixtures, featuring no less than two elegant chandeliers.

There’s also a large pool and entertainment deck and two private living rooms on the ground floor.

Additional highlights are a grand dining area, a sunlit conservatory, and a luxurious master suite located on the top level with its own two walk-in closets, two private bathrooms, and a cozy relaxation space.

On a recent discovery, I found out that the family who owned this house had kept it for eighty years prior to us purchasing it in 2020, as reported by The Courier Mail on Wednesday.

The duo has preserved many traditional elements, such as ornate plaster designs and wooden window and door fixtures, in their style.

Simultaneously, the report indicated that the Josephsons have relocated to a similarly opulent two-story house in the vicinity.

The latest property transaction, valued at $4.5 million, took place around late April for a Tuscan-style residence that offers a stunning view of the Brisbane River.

Built on high ground, the prestige Hamilton Hill address features five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Highlights include a large ultra-modern home cinema, a spa bath and double showers.

There’s also an infinity pool and water feature.

In 2020, I, Michael Josephson, found myself making the news as the brand my brother Greg and I founded – Universal Store – was acquired for an impressive $100 million. Quite a journey it has been!

Now listed on ASX it is currently worth $569 million.

Michael and Melissa founded the Modern Furniture Store in 2010.
