On Tuesday, Brian May and Roger Taylor from Queen band received the 2025 Polar Music Prize, bestowed upon them by Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf.
At the Polar Music Prize ceremony held at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, these rock musicians received acknowledgement for their achievements throughout their musical careers.
Reflecting upon this extraordinary moment, I find myself musing on what my younger self in 1974 might have thought if told we’d be living this incredible dream 50 years down the line. As a lifestyle expert, I can only imagine the sheer delight and astonishment that would have coursed through my veins!
Roger, aged 75, mentioned: “At the beginning of our band…we held aspirations, yet never imagined the path that lay ahead.
It was lucky for us that our very diverse personalities blended so well, resulting in an amazing team dynamic.

He went on to say, ‘Unlike most other prizes, the Polar Music Prize stands out by taking into account the entire span of a musician’s career.’
It’s a great privilege to join the distinguished lineup of past awardees, a truly Olympic-caliber group. We’re extremely proud to have received such an extraordinarily esteemed award.
Roger stood on the red carpet alongside his spouse, Sarina, while Brian found himself accompanied by his wife, Anita Dobson.
At the gathering, Adam Lambert sang several hits from Queen, such as “Who Wants to Live Forever” and “Another One Bites the Dust.
Last month, Brian appeared exceptionally healthy while performing at the Coachella festival in Indio, California, following his stroke.
It was recently disclosed that the Queen, who experienced a health crisis in September, was urgently taken to the hospital.
However, he displayed exceptional skill during their performance, as they both struck poses following their remarkable rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody together alongside Benson Boone, who is 22 years old.
Wearing a checked cream top and torn grey denims, Brian was beaming with joy following his appearance as a special guest alongside the ex-American Idol star during their performance at the yearly music and art event hosted by the Empire Polo Club.

During the performance of Bohemian Rhapsody, Brian joined in for a guitar solo and then continued to collaborate with suit-wearing Benson on his hit single from 2024, Beautiful Things.
They seemed to be getting along quite well, laughing and talking freely backstage before taking pictures together.
This morning, Brian subtly suggested our upcoming collaboration when he posted a photo on Instagram of us jetting off to Coachella together on an airplane with Benson.
He playfully wrote: ‘Guess who I ran across – en route to the legendary Palm Springs… Could something exciting transpire?!’
Snapping another photo alongside the talented performer, I can’t help but express our joy! Spending time on this flight with @bensonboone, a remarkable 22-year-old prodigy, has been nothing short of golden. I feel honored and delighted to announce that we’ve officially formed a friendship.
Following a health update from his wife, Anita Dobson, on Good Morning Britain, it has been shared that Brian experienced a stroke.
As an ardent admirer and follower, I’m referring to the extraordinary individual known as Brian – a renowned musician, astrophysicist, and passionate advocate for animal rights. In a video he shared publicly, he disclosed that he had experienced a ‘minor stroke’.

During their conversation on Good Morning Britain, Anita (who is well-known for her role in EastEnders) and Brian’s wife shared updates about his health status with hosts Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins, who are both 58 and 49 years old respectively.
Charlotte asked: ‘How is Sir Brian doing, we should ask of course as he hadn’t been well had he?’
‘He’s very well now. I’m very happy to say, thank you both for asking,’ Anita replied.
‘He’s very well now, he’s back to his old self!’
Sir Brian May revealed his medical emergency in a video shared to his personal website last year.
