The show named Tracker has had a thriving run for two seasons due to its distinct procedural style, and I’m open to one confirmed character alteration for season 3. The narrative revolves around Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), who journeys across the nation locating missing individuals in return for the monetary rewards offered for their recovery. He has a team of associates who support him in his unconventional line of work, even though they aren’t usually present in the field with him; they remain integral to his tale.
One of the supporting characters is Fiona Rene, better known as Reenie Green. In the initial season, we meet Reenie as a lawyer with past ties to Colter, who occasionally comes to his aid in times of trouble. However, her role was deepened beyond just being part of Colter’s support network in the second season. As we move into season 3 of Tracker, we can expect further development and exploration of Reenie’s storyline.
Tracker Season 2 Increased Focus On Reenie’s Personal Storylines
Reenie’s New Job And New Client Expanded Her Story
In the first season, Reenie mainly served as a source of banter with Colter, provided legal counsel, and retrieved legal documents such as arrest records for him. However, in the second season, her character is given its own distinct storyline apart from Colter’s cases, which adds a fresh perspective to the show as it often revolves around the stories of people connected to Colter and his cases.
In the story, Reenie establishes her independent business, serving as a base for Velma (Abby McEnany) to assist Colter. Rapidly, she acquires a well-off client, Leo Sharf (Pej Vahdat), who owns a business but has a questionable history. Although Reenie harbors doubts about him, his secrets are not as sinister as the audience of Tracker might anticipate. Instead, they present an intriguing mystery for Reenie to solve and offer opportunities for her character development.
At the close of Tracker season 2, it was revealed that Reenie was abducted and used as a means to lure Leo Sharf’s focus. This made her one of those very individuals Colter had to track down. The traumatic event will undoubtedly have lasting impacts on Reenie in future episodes.
How Reenie Will Be Different In Tracker Season 3
Reenie’s World Will Be A Bit Darker
Despite following a procedural structure by introducing fresh cases weekly, Tracker doesn’t neglect the thread of ongoing narratives. Instead, its serialized nature is derived from broader storylines. For instance, previous seasons have delved into Colter’s family history and Reenie’s new client. As we move forward in the series, Reenie will experience the repercussions of her harrowing kidnapping from Tracker season 2, episode 19.
As a dedicated cinephile, I eagerly followed up with TV Guide after the gripping end of season 2, and it’s clear that Showrunner Elwood Reid has some intriguing plans for the upcoming season. He hinted that Reenie’s kidnapping will cast a long shadow, not just on her but perhaps on Colter as well. Reid shared that we can expect to find Reenie in an “uncertain, ominous state” next season, and I’m excited to see how this emotional turmoil affects Colter too.
The world of Reenie is captivating as we shattered her character by the end of Episode 19, revealing an entirely new aspect to her. She seems to be in a peculiar, uncertain, and ominous state heading into the next season, which I’m eager to explore. I’m intrigued by how Colter will engage or choose not to engage with this situation given his reticence when it comes to expressing emotions.
In Tracker season 3, Reenie may find it difficult to approach her interactions with Colter as usual, since the trauma of her kidnapping could make her more cautious. This increased vigilance might cause her to hesitate when it comes to helping with his cases, as she may be concerned about potential dangers to herself. Despite her bravery during the ordeal, where she managed to keep those around her calm and distracted, the near-death experience is unlikely to be easily forgotten.
Fully Fleshing Out Reenie As A Character Is Great For Tracker
The Supporting Cast Needs More Storylines
Each week, I embark on a fresh quest to locate a vanished soul in a distinct, unfamiliar setting. While my crew primarily offers support through phone conversations, it’s crucial for us to visually experience their contributions – with Reenie being no exception.
Currently, the secondary characters in Tracker lack well-developed personalities. They often exchange information with Colter and occasionally provide a joke, but their portrayals are brief and fail to reveal much about them in the series. Among these characters, Reenie seems to have received the most focus so far in Tracker, which makes it reasonable for her character to be further explored and deepened first.
Reid recognizes that portraying Colter’s allies as mere “phone-a-friend” characters might be dull for the viewers. In a recent interview with TV Guide, he expressed his intention to expand the worlds of Colter’s friends, rather than keeping them one-dimensional.
It seems crucial for us to develop and expand the settings more thoroughly, as this will prevent our main character, Colter, from constantly searching online for information. Instead, I prefer to give these characters their due by exploring their depth through well-constructed environments.
As a film enthusiast, I’m eager to breathe life into the secondary characters outside of Colter beyond their stereotypical roles commonly found in crime procedurals. Currently, they are somewhat one-dimensional, with Bobby (Eric Graise) having a military past, Velma being a dog lover with a tumultuous relationship, Randy (Chris Lee) being selfless and ready to aid at a moment’s notice, and Reenie often demonstrating intellectual prowess. However, I yearn to delve deeper into their backgrounds, personalities, and complexities, making them more than just archetypes.
Expanding Reenie’s character beyond her legal skills and witty interactions with Colter is a crucial step towards developing all the characters in the show thoroughly. While Colter may be the central figure, he is surrounded by individuals who consistently pause their lives to assist him each week, and it’s essential for viewers to become equally acquainted with them as they are with Colter. Each character deserves their own narratives to strengthen the relationships between the characters while adding diversity to the storyline.
Permitting Reenie’s development and transformation through her encounters will significantly enrich the narrative for every character in Tracker‘s third season.
