Caution! Spoilers lurk for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3, Episode 4 titled “I’m Fine, It’s Fine. Everything Is Fine.” Tyler Green has been aiding the Behavioral Analysis Unit in the Sicarius case since the first season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, but it wasn’t until Season 3 that he truly felt like a full-fledged team member. In Season 2 of Criminal Minds: Evolution, Tyler acted as a consultant within the Sicarius network, having infiltrated it after his sister was one of Elias Voit’s first victims. It wasn’t until Episode 2 of Season 3 that Tyler officially joined the BAU.

In the initial seasons 1 and 2 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” Tyler and Penelope Garcia’s confusing, secretive relationship added complexity to his relationships with other main characters. However, in season 3, the show is distancing itself from the contentious love triangle, giving Tyler a chance to evolve into a more rounded character. For the first time, Tyler played a significant role in resolving a case that was unrelated to the Sicarius network.

How Tyler Green Is Critical In Solving BAU’s Non-Sicarius-Related Case In Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3, Episode 4

Tyler Green Has A Beautiful Moment With A Victim Before Her Death

During the initial episode of the season, Tyler Green was persistently training but now feels at ease within the team, offering his unique insights promptly during discussions around the BAU’s renowned circular table concerning a case. Emily Prentiss has enlisted Tyler Green and Luke Alvez to join her in Tucson, a logical move given that they currently represent the BAU’s physical strength.

During the investigation process, Tyler frequently had astute intuitions like employing metal residues found on the third corpse to pinpoint the precise location of the organ trafficking. As Emily pointed out, pinning down the geographic area was crucial for identifying the perpetrators. Once they identified one of their own team members, Tyler instructed local police to search for doctors and eventually uncovered Dr. Malcolm Ramsay, the surgeon involved in the murders. He was found to be killing women in a desperate attempt to save his daughter.

Despite Tyler’s significant assistance during the investigation, it’s his actions subsequent to it that unequivocally show he has matured into his position as a BAU agent. When Dr. Ramsay is found with his newest victim by Tyler, Luke, and Prentiss, their daughter Arielle unexpectedly attacks her father and stabs him, appalled at his actions harming others in her name. It’s Luke who saves the latest victim, but it’s Tyler who keeps a keen eye on Arielle to support her when she collapses due to her autoimmune disease.

In the end, Tyler escorts Arielle outdoors to witness the night’s stars – she hasn’t gazed upon them in half a year. He assures her gently that she isn’t a monster, but she was the one who extinguished the genuine one. To comfort him, Prentiss shares some tough-earned insights: the occupation isn’t about swagger and confronting wickedness, it’s about suffering, and truly experiencing that pain that makes exceptional agents. The kindness Tyler demonstrated towards Arielle underscores his intellectual prowess, but also his compassion – qualities fitting for the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

Tyler Green Has Been Building Rapport With The Rest Of The BAU

Criminal Minds: Evolution Turned Its Awkward Love Triangle Around

In a guarded and angry demeanor, reflective of his relentless pursuit of justice for his sister’s murder, Tyler Green joined the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Fortunately, as Criminal Minds: Evolution enters its third season, it is gradually giving Tyler more depth by exploring his interpersonal connections within the BAU team.

Initially, Luke Alvez had a stern and protective relationship with Tyler, but now, their dynamic has shifted to an emerging camaraderie on Criminal Minds: Evolution – a void that was left after Derek Morgan departed. The playful banter between them in the season opener evolved into a heart-to-heart discussion about Bruce Springsteen’s music collection during Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3, episode 3. The series seamlessly transitioned from a worn-out love triangle to a delightful friendship.

Main Cast of Criminal Minds: Evolution
Actor Character Seasons Current Relationship Status
Paget Brewster Emily Prentiss 2-18 Single.
Joe Mantegna David Rossi 3-18 Grieving his wife Krystall in Evolution season 1. Romantically reconnected with Jill Gideon in season 2.
A.J. Cook Jennifer “JJ” Jareau 1-18 Widowed mother of 2 boys after 15 years with her partner, Will LaMontagne Jr.
Kirsten Vangsness Penelope Garcia 1-18 Single. Previously had a one-night stand with Tyler Green. Had one failed dated with Luke Alvez.
Aisha Tyler Dr. Tara Lewis 11-18 In a committed relationship with Rebecca Wilson.
Adam Rodriguez Luke Alvez 12-18 Single. Previously had a flirtation with Garcia, but they both agreed there wasn’t a real spark after one date.
Ryan-James Hatanaka Tyler Green 16-18 Single. Had illicit chemistry with Garcia in Evolution season 1, but Prentiss ordered Garcia to end it.
Zach Gilford Elias Voit 16-18 Voit was married to Sydney, sharing two children, but Voit’s amnesia means he can’t remember. His family is in witness protection and refuses to see him.

This decision to shift away from the romantic tension between Garcia and Tyler is refreshing, as she truly thrives in light-hearted banter rather than serious flirting. I appreciate the new dynamic they’ve established this season, as it allows Garcia to be more open without maintaining a distance from Tyler. They still engage in witty exchanges (“Say please.” “Pretty please?” “Oh, with flair!”), but without overshadowing the ongoing narrative with a hidden, complex romance.

Emily Prentiss’s conversation with Tyler during their flight home underscored the significant personal growth Tyler has experienced on his spiritual path, and the strong connections he’s forged with every member of the BAU team. The special camaraderie among Criminal Minds’ agents is one of the show’s most powerful aspects.

Why Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Needs To Keep Tyler Beyond The Sicarius Case

Tyler Adds Value & Humor To The BAU Beyond His Expertise

The BAU became aware of Sicarius through an anonymous tip from Tyler. Given Tyler’s deep understanding of the case, Prentiss asked for him to join the BAU team. It turns out, though, that Tyler showcases his professional abilities and competence beyond just his knowledge about Sicarius.

Tyler’s experience in military intelligence equips him well for conducting research when Garcia is unavailable. In the second season of Evolution, Prentiss overlooked Tyler’s use of unlawful methods, but this time around, he has shown that he can deliver results while operating within the rules.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’ve found myself deeply moved by the narrative of our protagonist, Agent Tyler Green. He carries a burden that only the most empathetic souls can understand – a need to delve into the psyche of the criminals we pursue, while simultaneously offering comfort and compassion to the victims. Once the Sicarius case concludes, I fervently hope that “Criminal Minds: Evolution” season 4 will recognize the invaluable role he plays and keep him as a permanent fixture in our team.
