The popular crime drama series “Gangs of London,” headlined by actor Sope Dirisu from “Slow Horses,” is set to depart from Netflix on the 19th of August.
The highly praised “Gangs of London” TV series, known for its “flat out awesome” rating on IMDb, has already aired three seasons. The third season was recently premiered on Sky Atlantic and NOW earlier this year. At the moment, you can stream the first two seasons of “Gangs of London” on Netflix, but only for a limited time!
Exploring London’s dark criminal realm, Gangs of London kicks off as infamous crime lord Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) is assassinated. For the past two decades, he had reigned over the city, but it doesn’t take long for a fierce power tussle to ignite as various gangs vie for his position.
In this group, you’ll find Sean Wallace (Joe Cole), who strives to mimic his father’s path. Meanwhile, Elliot Finch (Dìrísù), a covert police officer, is tasked with gaining Sean’s confidence and uncovering the illegal activities of the Wallace family’s extensive operations.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the first season of “Gangs of London” has earned an impressive Certified Fresh rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes! However, even though the second season saw a slight dip, it still maintains a respectable score of 81%. This just goes to show that the series continues to captivate audiences with its gripping storylines and powerful performances.

After the series debuted in 2020, Cole’s performance was widely acclaimed by critics, along with the intriguing plot twists it presented.
The Guardian enthusiastically declared that “Gangs of London” is set to deliver an exhilarating and meticulously crafted journey, with its first 90-minute episode alone packing a punch, hinting at even more twists to come.
As a fellow enthusiast, I must say this series isn’t for the faint-hearted who shy away from intense, graphically violent scenes. However, if you’re up for it, prepare to be engrossed in a captivating game of strategic power plays – a true thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Simultaneously, The Times stated that Joe Cole delivered an outstanding performance as Sean Wallace. To my perception, he portrayed a multifaceted, suppressed individual – a youth ready to commit violent acts and demonstrate his masculinity for the family name, yet lacking sincerity in his actions.
Seasons one and two of Gangs of London are available to stream on Netflix until 19th August.
The latest print issue from Digital Spy, featuring Oasis – Live in ’25’, is available for purchase! Grab a copy at your local newsstand or online, now selling at an affordable price of £8.99.
